    Pats release CB Bodden

    The New England Patriots have parted ways with cornerback Leigh Bodden, the Boston Herald reported Friday.

    The decision to release Bodden comes as a surprise considering he was one of the Patriots' biggest free-agent signings in 2009. He had played a large role on the Patriot's defense this season as the team's nickel cornerback. Bodden played in five games this season, starting one. He recorded 17 tackles and four passes defensed.

    Dowling may be playing full time now. Kid's good I'm not surprised

    they are syainf dowling might be out this week, I really don't understand why you cut a guy who you have to pay thru the end of the season for no reason, something up .

    Injury prone is the lone thing I didn't like about him, and it's already showing in the NFL. Glad we went with Heyward

    I think it has to do with the concern of a player getting paid that much money not doing what the coaching staff is asking him to do.

    I thought a veteran's season salary was guaranteed if he was signed before week one. That's why many vets get signed after week one . If ti is as I understand, there is no benefit in cutting a vet unless you absolutely need the roster spot or he's a problem child. hmmm
