The Steelers finish 3rd in the AFC North, which mean they will play the Patriots, Colts, and Raiders in 2023.
They will also play the AFC South and the NFC West. Jaguars, Titans, Texans, 49ers, Rams, Seahawks, and Cardinals.
Their NFC opponent will be from the North. I think it'll be the Packers.
It was a great second half of the season. TJ missing games then playing hurt made it impressive. They got the offense in gear once KP took over. But if they don’t learn from their mistakes it won’t mean anything. They need a decent coordinator and qb coach to help KP get to the next level and shore up the defense and O line in the off-season - and lastly dump MT who doesn’t want to be here and find a reliable vet to backup KP
Yeah, they didn't win the Super Bowl. Oh well.
They did better than I thought they would at the beginning of the season.
I think the players enjoy playing for Tomlin and also enjoy playing for the Steelers.
I think the Steelers realized in the 70's it wasn't just about winning Super Bowls.
They moved on to become something greater.
I don't have any references to cite though.
It's more about something that transcends words.
I like the idea of taking Darnell Washington from Georgia with 32 if he is there . Freak of nature , 6’7 280. TE that can move catch and block.
Its almost like having a pulling Tackle (if that makes sense) that sneaks out for catches every now and then.
he would fit our power football culture we are trying to build, and also hopefully he has a good relationship with Pickens so they can feed off each other.
That guy is not only huge, he's a huge question mark. Such as, why is he not more of the Georgia offense? The answer I keep getting is he is fairly slow, probably due to his size. And the targets he does get are plays designed to get him the ball. He's not going to run himself open in other words. Personally, I would love to add him, I just don't like his value at where we would have to take him. I think he's going to be a nice weapon for whoever does draft him though.
My initial thoughts.
Replace Matt Canada with someone who has proven REDZONE td production as a offensive coach. We suck when we are 20yard to goal line.
bookend LT , either draft or FA
So far I like Skoranski from Northwestern
A veteren edge rusher specialists . Who only comes in when TJ is gassed or injured. Or 3rd downs
They could be worse but should be better. The Steelers struggle at drafting and development, I could care less what the Denver Broncos are doing. The Steelers lack in the coaching department, from the top down, its hard to trust a coaching staff who have done so little with so much talent
I have to admit, the run blocking and running game picked up a notch late in the season. I’m not sure if it was the O Lines fault honestly. I think Najee finally started to run straight into the gaps created and stop trying to take everything off tackle .
In turn, when the running game was working, pass blocking got easier since the defense had to respect the run.
….I still want a new bookend LT though
I personally wouldnt mess to much with the O-Line , thats not to say I wouldnt address it to some degree but I am not spending pick 18 on an O-Lineman ...
Kazee and Edmunds both FA so we desperately need to resign one or both of them and or draft the next starter so thats a top priority ....
I would like to see ILB addressed sooner rather than later as I do not want to see Spilane starting and Bush is on his way out , I am not sold on Robinson he is a hitter but man he is raw and may never truly completely develop
I am conflicted with our CB situation , I see really good play from Pierre , I have seen really good play from Wallace and until he got hurt and then tried to play at less than 100% Witherspoon put out some nice tape .... Sutton is just rock solid ... so my thought is we have potential to be really really good but at the same time we also could not be ... this unit of corners is perfectly fine with a solid pass rush as long as the rush gets home these guys will look great , its when the rush doesnt get home that we see issues ...
We need to add another WR to compete with /push Sims and hope CA3 shows up in 2023 with a chip on his shoulder
I like our RB's and wouldnt spend any draft capital or FA$$ there ....
D-Line I think is pretty good but wouldnt mind upgrading Adams ( whom I liked his draft year but he isnt the player I had hoped he would be , sure he is serviceable but he isnt a dominate force ...that said Larry O is a must sign FA he is so under rated ........
that said you have to draft the best player on the board every time you select or you will end up reaching and that is where you end up with busts
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
Yeah....Improving the D-line is a must with younger player is a must.....
the O-Line played much better after the bye and if honest the two worst players on it are Dan Moore and Dotson both on the left side that said they were average at worse 2nd half of the season and you cant replace 2 guys side by side on a line who was improving all season long ... like I said I wouldnt use pick 18 on the O-Line maybe our original 2nd or 3rd ...
D-Line Cam may have played his best 2 years the last 2 seasons IMO sure it will end sooner or later but isnt that why we drafted Leal last year .... and Loudermilk the year before ? I think resigning Larry O is more crucial than drafting someone but maybe thats just me ...I am all for upgrading Adams
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
Not sure what to do about O'line. I have been a proponent of building this line from the inside out, with the idea that our lead runner is best between the tackles. Maybe getting our next great center? But, that part of the line has improved immensely. We definitely need help (future upgrade at least) at one of the tackle positions. I say one because I think the line has played well enough you don't want to mess with it too much. The thing is the Steelers just don't seem to see left tackle as a position that requires a high draft pick. When was the last left tackle the Steelers took at the top of the draft? Something tells me they see Dan Moore as their new Max Starks. Somebody without a high ceiling but can be good enough someday.
I don't know. They have two good run stopping, hard hitting, middle linebackers (assuming they resign Spillane). They have to find a good pass covering middle backer or we are going to get eaten alive by Cinci, Buffalo and KC. And young D'line I think.
Of course, they may address some of this in free agency prior to the draft.
my fear is they will think "hey we were trending up...lets not change a thing" .![]()
I'll be curious to see where Steelers go with Oline in offseason. I don't know how Steelers feel about Dan Moore, but Kevin Dotson only has one year left on his contract. I could see them taking O'Cyrus Torrance in the first, but would feel better if he was had in 2nd. I really like Peter Skoronski at tackle, even though draft evaluators worry about his arms being shorter than ideal for a tackle. To me though it seems like the Pickett small hands talk last year, as Skoronski looks rock solid with great feet and technique for a tackle.
With the Lions winning, the Steelers now have these picks:
17
32
49
80
Expect announcements of "future contract" signings this week.
So they suck at drafting and development, but they also are unable to properly coach up the massive amount of talent they have on the roster (which is ostensibly due to said drafting and development since they are never major players in the FA market).
Please pick one narrative and go with it.
This is wishful thinking. Everyone forgets how horrible our O line was. Had he started that first game he would have been running for his life. That does two things, it opens the QB for injury and creates very bad habits in a QB. I am very thankful we have a coach that understands that and Trubisky who could bear the brunt of it until the O line was at least okay enough to give KFP a couple of seconds before he got pressured.

That's easy, FS! Cowher's General Manager was doing the drafting!![]()
