https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/...medium=twitter● It looked like T.J. Watt would tie Michael Strahan’s sack record on the fifth play of the Ravens opening possession, but a low snap to quarterback Tyler Huntley was ruled a running play when he got up and fumbled after being hit by Watt. Oh well, it might have to wait.

Absolutely aweful.

Not sure they can appeal that "aborted play" bullshit call but they should. That makes Brett Farve's dive even more insulting.
Can someone please explain to me why the first sack fumble had in this game was not counted?
Thread on that here..... -->> http://www.steelersuniverse.com/foru...t-a-Sack-by-TJ

I don't think it's before/after the whistle that decides it. There are plays where, for example, it's an interception and there's a personal foul during the runback, but the defense still keeps the ball. But in this case (and most cases) it's essentially the same thing.
If I remember correctly, the rule is that a personal foul by the defense on a play that goes beyond the line of scrimmage adds to the play and the play still counts, but a personal foul on the defense beyond the line of scrimmage is marked off from the LOS and therefore negates the play. Still a shitty call though.
See you Space Cowboy ...
1st one… Once the snap was muffed/fumbled it became a recovery and the player that recovered is not eligible to be ‘sacked’. Even if it was the QB.
2nd one/half sack… The penalty negates the play. (Replay down). If the Ravens had declined the penalty Cam and Watt should have been credited with a half sack each.
Don't know what everyone is talking about. The Steelers recovered after Watt's strip sack and the ball was spotted exactly where the ball was recovered 1st & 10.
Watt was robbed and it needs to be corrected or else this will happen again to another player.
At least give him a .5 sack. It's not the defenses fault they got to him. Unless I'm wrong and Huntley couldn't have thrown the ball once secured(wasn't secured because sack)
The scorer ruled that it was a rushing attempt after that point. Which is horseshit if you ask me. It was a passing play from the shotgun with an empty backfield. They don't rule it a rushing play and no sack every time the quarterback gets pressured and scrambles, and this is no different. That rule is supposed to be for designed running plays, and this was designed as a pass.
See you Space Cowboy ...
When a penalty is enforced from the previous spot (line of scrimmage or spot of a kickoff or free kick), no rushing attempt, pass, sack, punt, or field-goal attempt is recorded, except if there is a loss of down. This includes all live-ball penalties where the play ends at or behind the line of scrimmage.
NOTE: Penalties for hits to a defenseless receiver should be enforced from the previous spot.
Sacks (Defensive)
Credit a sack to the appropriate defensive player whenever a sack is scored against the offensive team, subject to the following principles:
1. When the player making an apparent attempt to pass is tackled or downed at or behind the statistical line of scrimmage, credit a sack to the defensive player who tackled or downed the potential passer. If a defender pushes an offensive player into the potential passer, knocking him down and ending the play, or the contact results in a fumble, credit a sack to the appropriate defensive player.
EXCEPTION: If the potential passer fumbles on his own prior to any such contact, no sack is credited to any individual defensive player, unless he recovers his own fumble and attempts to advance or pass the ball. However, credit the defensive team with a sack. The number of defensive sacks should be equal to the number of offensive sacks.
Just read an article that says TJ got it back.
Until they take it away from him again.

I don’t think it’s possible that they already awarded him the sack. They don’t review these types of things until after the final night game is played
Here’s what I read:

Considering that Favre flopped to give Strahan the "record," Watt has already broken it, in my book.
