Announcement: SU to help raise money for Ben's Fundraiser

The Admins and Mods have decided to help raise money for Ben's fundraiser by putting up the first $50 into a pool and adding in any donations from our members for a lump sum group donation from Steelers Universe! All PayPal fees will be paid by SU so that if you donate $10, the full $10 will be donated to The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation. (Every dollar counts!)

Let's join Ben in this worthy endeavor!! Thanks!

This fantastic evening will feature the rockin’ 80’s cover band, Flashback Heart Attack, a strolling dinner and a fabulous live and silent auction.

I know for most of us the $200 dollar ticket price is steep, but Erin (the administrator of Ben's site), says that all donations and proceeds will be split up between his foundation (which supplies K-9's and rescue/bomb/cadaver dogs to police and fire agencies throughout the country) and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The eagle touched down early, so I am heading to PayPal now to send a donation..... With my younger daughter in the midst of things in Colorado Springs (actually she is in a pre-evacuation area in Woodland Park0, the timing of this couldn't be more perfect....

I feel that I still have daily contact with HTG - - the big robin that I posted about in her daily thread, still comes to visit me every day - - she will sit outside my den window as soon as I open my drapes and chirp... Then I tap on the window and she tilts her head then goes about her business.... It is like a visit from Marianne.....

This is such a great idea......

I have been told by Erin that Ben's dad has been made aware of our efforts here at SU.

I saw the post today on the forum and it was such perfect timing because I was just emailing with Ben's father, who manages his foundation. I emailed him immediately to give him the link (and the folks at The Giving Back Fund who oversee the Foundation). We spoke and then he said how great it was and thanked you guys. He then said, "There sure are a lot of good people out there!".

Ben's sister, Carlee, also retweeted a shout out to SU.

Mr. Roethlisberger is right....there are some wonderful people here at SU! A big thanks to all who have given their hard earned dollars to support Ben in this fundraiser. Let's keep this going a few more days....we would like to send in our group donation by July 6th. The K-9 dogs and the kids benefiting from the Make a Wish Foundation thank you, too!

I realize we are coming off the weekend and perhaps this thread has been lost in the shuffle. I am bumping up this thread, hoping some of you will chip in for this worthy cause. No gift is too small.

Ben called in to WDVE this morning to talk about his first-ever charity event that takes place this Sunday, July 8th.

One of the auction items you can bid on is a dinner with Ben, Brett Keisel, Coach Tomlin, Merril Hoge! That is heck of dinner table to be sitting at!

We are still taking donations for a group donation to the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation in Marianne's memory.

Let's help Ben make his first ever fundraiser a successful one!
