That’s sorta my point. NFL coaching staffs always believe they’re the genius level savants that are going to magically unlock some dude’s potential. After how many years in the league?

Your just making your job harder by giving a roster spot to a guy that has a lot of tape of being not good enough.

If Burns or Bush had been third round draft picks let alone 7th round picks, would anyone be signing them? Even with their great athletic traits?

Baker Mayfield. Sam Darnold. Trubisky. If these guys had been drafted outside of the first round, are they getting all these chances to play?

    Just ask Mason Rudolph.

According to Spotrac and Overthecap the steelers have between 18 and 20 million in cap space counting the top 51. For some reason that does not reflect Ogunjobi's contract which is confusing to me. They also need about 8 million for drafted players. Add about another 4 or 5 million for flexibility during the year and they can probably sign one more FA in the 2-4 million dollar range without restsrucuring TJ (which they could do). Still like to see Edmunds re-signed. Also, would not be against a veteran slot receiver, even if it's a player let go right before the season.

Or any Undrafted player. When you are a late rounder or undrafted, you're a part of the heap and you better make your opportunities count when you get them. Sadly, Rudolph did not the most of his chances.

Agreed. I guess when you are a first round talent in college the majority of teams have scouted you at least to some level. So, even when you fail they look back on what they thought of you in college instead of what you did with your former team.

I can understand kicking the tires on Bush if he had been with a bad franchise. But, Mike Tomlin is a good coach - and defensive minded at that. Also, Carroll should have considered that Bush had one of the best defensive minded coaches helping him last year in Brian Flores.

    Alas, one man's trash .......

And sometimes the fit just isn’t right. Plenty of examples of players going on to a second team and doing well. Not thinking this will be the case with Bush but probably why they get those second and third chances.

So is Mason Rudolph going to go the way of Landry Jones and bounce around in the XFL/USFL for a couple years before he moves on to his life's work? Their stat lines aren't all that dissimilar.

I would imagine he’s be one of those late under the radar signings somewhere well after the draft and possibly into training camp? If he gets signed…

The safety market is damn near dead. Unless both parties simply want to move on, I don't see why Edmunds won't be back.

Apparently the Steelers were the only team that had a first round grade on him.

I hope he returns. Presently, they’re a better team with him than without him.

Meanwhile that grape Dulac said don't count out Edmunds as a Steeler in 2023. Translation: He is gone.

Le'Raven? That's got espionage written all over it.

If the Steeler sign or draft a guys by the name of McBrown and/or Le 'Bengal, then there is definitely something up. Could be a "foot hold" situation.
