Any mention of Kirk Cousins causes me to have cold shivers in my stomach. He was impudent against us last year and he eventually got benched for a rookie. He is expensive as well. I can’t see why he would be a considerable upgrade over Rudolph.

Fields sucked for three years as a Bear, but somehow in your mind Tomlin was too stupid to know what a diamond in the rough Fields was. When Fields falls on his face with his third team this year with the Jets, hopefully we won't have to hear anymore how we should have kept him.
Rich Gannon became MVP after bouncing around and in his 15th season. Maybe Fields will be a Gannon … in his 15th season.
Forget Rodgers and Sanders! Go with Dart in 2025!
There is maybe 1 or 2 QBs in this draft that may become a star QB in this league for years to come. Key word there is maybe. No need to reach for a QB in Round 1. Ewers in round 5 would be just fine for me thank you.
I think the only way we don't pick a QB in round 1 is if Ward, Sanders, Dart, and Howard are all gone.
Anyone got a sense of college Dart is better or worse than college Rudolph?
Anyone actually watch Dart in college? I have a feeling some folks are just following the draft experts.
Mason Rudolph was slightly more advanced only because he was two years older. Rudolph also played in a wide-open spread offense in a conference that played no defense. He had a decent arm, but not the arm you would expect from a huge guy that was 6'5" 225 lbs. He wasn't very mobile, but he operated well within the quarterback friendly offense. Rudolph played his worst football under pressure in game-deciding situations and against better teams.
Jaxon Dart is shorter than Rudolph. He's 6'2" but has a sturdy build at 225 with a well-developed lower body. He is much more athletic than Rudolph. He is much more mobile, and he has much greater ability to run the ball. IMO he has a better arm than Rudolph. He has a much more relaxed and natural throwing motion that develops power with less effort. I believe his powerful lower body helps him in that regard. He played in one of the two elite conferences against some of the best defensive talent in the country.
Dart has to learn to play in an NFL offense. It will be a huge adjustment. but many quarterbacks have a similar issue when coming out. Dart still has moments when he doesn't do real well when under pressure. His processing can be affected, but it is understandable when you consider his age and the level of talent and coaching he is going against and the speed of the players in the SEC. He also needs to learn to take more of what defenses give him. He needs to learn to use his check downs more often. I haven't been in a room with Jaxson Dart to pick his brain and determine his work ethic and football IQ. There are only so many things you can determine from a distance and with no direct contact with a player. However, when I put together the physical talent with how he plays the game and makes his throws, I see a player that has a chance to be very good if he follows a developmental path that I expect for him.
Rudolph was 23 when he was drafted. Dart is only 21 years old. I believe he has a higher ceiling than Rudolph had and there is plenty of room for development being so young and with more athletic gifts.
Dart is a better prospect than Rudoph coming out because of the upside. His natural, fluid throwing motion and slightly better arm will serve him well throwing the ball, while his superior athleticism and running ability make him a more difficult quarterback to sack and to defend in the running game.
I like Dart as a prospect more than I liked Kenny Pickett. I think Dart is built sturdier to take punishment and play with power. He also has a better arm and more arm talent than Pickett, and his hand size will not be an issue. I know people joke but hand size does matter, particularly when you have to throw with power and in cold, wind, rain, and snow. It also comes into play with potential fumbles. It's one of the other reasons I worry about Milroe in this draft despite his insane athletic traits.
As you know, this is a projection. Nothing is guaranteed and results will vary!

I watch a ton of football. I have gotten to see Dart play several times this season. I also watch video on all these guys and then come to my own conclusions.
It really is amazing how many QBs look like they are the next big thing in college, then completely fall off in the NFL. I don't mean this sarcastically. Every year you see college QBs put teams on their backs and win games, throw accurate rockets all over the field, the get to the NFL and look like they have never played the game.
OK. That is good stuff with lots of details. Sounds like Dart truly is a better QB prospect than anyone currently on the Steelers roster....of course we never know what happens once they hit the NFL.
I freely admit that I watch very little college football. When I do watch it is mostly the Big10. BUT...I try to read and sift through things by folks that claim to. I have NO IDEA if this knucklehead knows his ass from his elbow, but I have seen very similar takes on Dart in other places as well: https://thecasualnfldraftanalyst.sub...dRedirect=true
Sounds like the adjustment period to the NFL could be multiple seasons worth. I am all for Dart becoming a Steeler....just not in Round 1. He is too far away and lacks the "elite" tool to push past that limitation as a draft prospect. Meaning....like Josh Allen was super far away too, but holy smokes....look at the things he can do even when he is as a raw as cookie dough. That kind of thing. Dart looks like an above average athlete but not a jaw dropping athlete.
I am sure that he will get drafted in Round 1 or 2. I just don't know if the juice will be worth the squeeze.
Count how many teams are likely to draft a QB in this draft. Using the analytics of when successful QBs are drafted. How many will come off the board before we pick at 83?
Not somebody we need.
https://www.westernjournal.com/shede...nterview-ever/Shedeur Sanders Gets Brutal Draft News After NFL Coach Reveals Details of 'Worst Formal Interview ... Ever'
“He hasn’t helped himself in some of the interviews,” one NFL general manager, who still largely believes in Sanders, told the NFL.
That critique was echoed and amplified by a longtime NFL assistant coach, who described Sanders’ combine interview as “the worst formal interview I’ve ever been in in my life.”
And the brutal news for Sanders didn’t end there.
“He’s so entitled,” the coach continued, before moving onto flaws in Sanders’ actual football game. “He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates.”
But perhaps the most damning assessment that this anonymous coach had? “But the biggest thing is, he’s not that good.”
Ouch, but the hits didn’t end there.
“It didn’t go great in our interview,” one NFL team executive said. “He wants to dictate what he’s going to do and what’s best for him. He makes you feel small.”
Another general manager expressed valid concerns that Sanders didn’t appear to take any meaningful steps forward as a player in his senior year at Colorado.
“It felt less athletic, less arm talent — everything felt less. If you’re talking about this year’s tape versus [Jaxson] Dart and Shedeur, I don’t think it was particularly close.”

The QB draft - It’s basically a crapshoot. And no team has perfected it.
I personally hope we don’t draft sanders. And I hope all the tomlin praise was a smoke screen.
I bought the Sanders rumors and I'm so glad they did not go that route. I still think they go QB somewhere though.
I still can't believe the Steelers are going to go into the season with Mason as the no. 1.
I was totally anti-Mason especially when we tied the winless Detroit team at home several years ago. I felt he had his chance and didn’t have the killer instinct to slam dunk it.
but two years ago he was clutch in stringing a bunch of wins to get us in the playoffs. He looked different. More mature. More “I don’t give a shit” attitude which actually made him play better. If you can guarantee that Mason Rudolph again - it’ll be drinking my Steeler Kool-aid and give you arguments on why he’s the next Ben
Now that they passed on Dart, it will be interesting to see if they target any other quarterbacks in this draft.
If you want elite traits, then Milroe is who you should be pulling for. He is a bag full of athletic awesomeness that needs to learn how to throw the ball accurately, throw with touch, and be able to read defenses and throw with anticipation.
He has much to work on, but he is most definitely YOUR guy!
Yup. He’s been my guy for the whole process.
Assuming you can get him in the third round….he’s a lottery ticket the same way Fields was.
He may never put it together; but if he does, the team is holding a winning ticket for an absolutely electric game changing player.
Rodgers/Rudolph/Milroe in 2025
Rudolph/Prized QB Prospect from the first round/Milroe 2026.
With the gentle reminder that as much as we all might not like aspects of this coaching staff; they made more progress molding Fields in 6 months than the Bears did in three years. And Fields and Milroe have similar issues.
