Raiders assistant Woodson adjusts to life as coach

In one of the highest-profile moves of the offseason, the Oakland Raiders lost an All-Pro cornerback when Nnamdi Asomugha signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles.
More than five months earlier, the Raiders had added an All-Pro cornerback when they hired Rod Woodson as assistant defensive backs coach.

Woodson's main task is to help develop four young cornerbacks the Raiders have drafted the past two seasons into reliable NFL players as Oakland tries to replace Asomugha.

Eight years after retiring from the NFL, Woodson is using his Hall of Fame playing credentials to try to teach a young group of cornerbacks how to succeed..........

I for one have always thought Lake was the better player of the two and now he's our DB's coach I Believe we have the better coach of the 2 as well!!!

I can't compare them as coaches but Woodson was a much better player. He's an all-time great. Let me defer:

Back on topic, can he teach speed? It has to be hard to teach your position when you were the greatest at it. Everyone will disappoint.

Great players just don't seem to make great coaches. Woodson may be an exception. He is starting with a major handicap though, coaching for the Raiders. Time will tell.

You all can agree or disagree all you want but it aint gonna change my opinion. I liked Carnel better than rod back in the day and still do. The year we lost our 1st Superbowl Rod got hurt the 1st game and was gone for the entire season, yet Carnel filled in for him and we didn't miss a beat. The guy is versatile and he started off as a Linebacker not a defensive back. I don't give a rats ass about stats or whatever so and so says this is my opinion and it aint gonna change any time soon.
