Rule Changes Could Lengthen Games

The change in replay involves scoring plays. If an official rules a score (touchdown, field goal, safety or extra point) during a game, the replay official will automatically review the play. If there is any question as to whether the ruling is correct, they will buzz down to the referee and ask him to come to the monitor to review the play. If the replay official confirms the ruling is correct, they will buzz the referee indicating he is clear to let the scoring team attempt the extra point, or kick off if the scoring play was a field goal, safety or extra-point attempt.

Yep, all games will now be about 4 hours long now, some longer. Wonder if this will affect the tv schedule of games? If a game starts at 1 it wont be over in time for when the 4:30 one starts...

Well here's the thing...this rule only covers "touchdowns.". Anything that is ruled a TD is reviewed. If a score is ruled NOT a TD and in actuality is a TD, that's not a reviewable play unless a coach uses a challenge. If it is outside of 2 minutes and a coach is out of challenges, they are shit out of luck. The rule doesn't cover the whole "envelope" of the endzone. It's another half assed bad rule. The game will never be perfect, yet they are trying to make it perfect...

Jon gruden was almost livid over it the other night during the game. Seemed he and Tirico were close to a full on argument. It all started when they called for review of an OBVIOUS TD and gruden voiced concern over losing tempo, fans booing because they couldn't cheer for the TD until it was approved after a boring 2 minutes
