He is the face of the franchaise now that Warner is gone. I wonder how much he gets in endorsements too.

Fitz is pretty much a Cardinal for life now
Congrats to Larry, but I hope he enjoys that money. He's stuck with the Cardinals and Whisendunce.

I can't imagine dropping that kind of money on a wide receiver..regardless of how good he is. That's QB money. If a team has a QB that commands that kind of money and he goes down with an injury, that team isn't the same the rest of the year. If a team loses a great wide receiver they might not be quite as dangerous, but it doesn't effect the offense the same way.
I just read about this on NFL.com...WOW...an 8 year deal thats nuts...will he make it through all 8 years (he's in like his 8th year in the league already as we speak)...I guess thats why the first 4-5 years have the bigger salary at around $17 mil each year. But congrats to him...he's a great guy and player and deserves it.

i would have traded him and let it be someone else's budget. He's good, but game changing good, IDK.
Merry Christmas

Ordinarily I would agree. I don't think any player is worth that kind of money, save for a couple of handfuls of top 5 QBs. Incidentally, the only reason I think some quarterbacks are worth that much is because the NFL for years, and now recently Goofdell, have been enacting rules that make it almost impossible to win without a quality qb. A WR just isn't worth that kind of money because, as evidenced by Fitz last year, if you don't have anybody competent to throw the ball, your high priced wr is useless.
That said. There is not another wr that I would be willing to pay more for that Fitz. When he plays with a quality qb, he is the most dangerous wr in the league. I am convinced that we were 1 first down, 10 seconds and about 10 yards away from very uncomfortable situation at the conclusion of the SB against the Cards. If you give Warner 3 chances to lob the ball into the end-zone to Fitz for a jump ball ........... not a good scenario.
Plus, he is not a prima donna who will likely self-destruct shortly after signing a large contract.

Too bad he's got nobody to throw to him.

Good for Fitz, bad for the Cards. That is a lot of cash for a position outside QB.
Maybe they will give us something decent for Dixon.

Good- $120 million.
Bad- eight more years of Whiz.
WE are the NFL's All-Time Dynasty!

Other than a QB, I wouldn't pay anyone on a team that kind of money. Unless he scores 2 TD's a game, he's not worth that kind of money. The Cardinals stunk before Warner, they have stunk after Warner. Fitzgerald was there for the entire time.

not a wise move, you dont know where he's gonna be a couple years for now, especially not in 8 years when he's about 35 years old. The deal isn't THAT frontloaded so they're probably expecting to trade him on the downside of his career.
