NFL preseason football is often completely misleading. Championship teams have gone 0-4 in August; Basement dwellers have gone 4-0 in games that don’t count. So everything that happens in the preseason needs to be taken with a grain of salt. But, man, the Eagles were awful on Thursday night.

Maybe the Eagles should be working harder. Andy Reid’s Camp Lollipop was by far the softest of his tenure as the Eagles quarterback. In a year without any offseason practices and OTA’s, it was downright shocking that Reid would go so easy on the troops. Much of it was mandated by the new CBA, but you wonder if breaking camp early was such a great idea. Friday morning, it sure looks like something borne of overconfidence.

Michael Vick looked completely perplexed by the Steelers’ defense. As Mike Freeman of CBS Sports tweeted, “looks like the old Vick.” He threw three interceptions. One of them was a tip drill cheapie, but the other two were thrown right into double coverage that he clearly did not see. That’s a very bad sign. For the first half, Vick’s quarterback rating was 13.5.
