Steelers safety Ryan Clark rips Goodell

4 minutes ago - by Chris Adamski - Steelers safety Ryan Clark rips Goodell
S Ryan Clark had some harsh words for NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. "I think he's decided to make himself a major part of this game," Clark said. "I don't know if he had some type of high school dreams or Pop Warner dreams of being an NFL football player, but he's made himself the NFL. He is the most popular -- or infamous -- commissioner in sports right now." Steelers RapidReports

Yes, but the real question is, would Clark cross the street to piss on Goodell if he was on fire?

Sometimes Ryan really needs to shut up. I mean Ryan, you are a football player, and NOT an Intellectual. I mean it's not like you went to Harvard son. Look, we all for different reasons hate the way Goodell has...well, Pussified the league. But many many other NFL commissioners have inserted themselves too much into the game in other areas. Bottom line is that comments like Clark's are not going to help the situation in the future. If he can't some something nice, or constructive, he needs to not say anything at all.

Unless Goodell is fired there will always be issues as far as fairness is concerned. I'm the Pats will get another draft pick next year.

    I'm with you NEPA.

Shut the hell up guys and win this year's Super Bowl - that will make Goodell's ass pucker a lot more than spewing venom.

If people don't speak out about this joke of a commissioner, then no one knows how hated he is. Playing nice means status quo.

    Agreed.

I wish our players would just shut up and play. Everyone knows how they feel. Why keep adding fuel to the fire.

Where I don't agree that our players are not intelligent, I also wish they would let it go and focus on playing the game.

I agree with Ryan, BUT it's not good to say that in public IMHO. It's time to focus on getting the seventh Lombardi.

I'm okay with our players voicing their opinions, it's their right, but it seems like we are the only team that has players invoking that right. I do agree with them, however, they just need to put their focus into football and take out the frustration on their opponents. And that's good for the team and us fans, cause it seems like they have lots of built up frustration. But not so good for the Ratbirds.

No, it only seems that way because our players are about the only ones that it's made a federal case and beaten to death out of by the media. PLENTY of non-Steelers have vocally expressed their displeasure with Goodell's stewardship of the league of late.

    For example:

“A lot of the players hated him even before this went down, and now they really hate him,” one prominent player for an NFC East team told me last Friday. “He’s not smooth, charming or witty. He never seems honest when he talks to you. And he’s a dope. They should change his name to Roger Goon-dell.”

"A prominent player for an NFC East team." Think that player would be afforded the same kind of anonymity if they played for the Steelers? Highly doubtful.

fansince'76: I meant that it seems that way because the media blows it up when the Steelers speak out. As soon as JH or Ryan Clark says something, it's front page headlines on ESPN.

Why was our ownership broken up? We were founded after "The Chief" won a horse racing bet...is that a crime? Were we somehow linked to the mob? Was there some allegation about us, founded or otherwise? Why was James the poster boy for fines last year? Why were the hits on our guys largely ignored?

Point is he doesn't need a reason.

Even the reporter that wrote James' article claims that he got alot of emails from other players agreeing with James. But we will never know their names.

I have to get ready for work or I'd look up the wuote.

And don't forget, Goodell fined Dan Rooney barely 3 months after Mr.Rooney helped get him his job, and only one month after he officially started the job. His inconsistancies have been there from the beginning.

Steelers' Rooney fined $25K for criticizing officials

Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney, who all but served as the campaign manager for new NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, on Friday was hit hard by the man he helped shepherd into office less than three months ago.Goodell fined Rooney $25,000 for his criticism of game officials after the Steelers' overtime loss to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday. Adding to the irony, the action came on the same day league officials announced Falcons defensive end Chauncey Davis, whose apparent helmet-to-helmet collision on Ben Roethlisberger knocked the Pittsburgh quarterback from the game in the third quarter, would not be fined............

Roger S. Goodell (born February 19, 1959) is the Commissioner of the National Football League (NFL), having been chosen to succeed the retiring Paul Tagliabue on August 8, 2006. He was chosen over four finalists for the position, winning a close vote on the fifth ballot before being unanimously approved by acclamation of the owners.[1][2] He officially began his tenure on September 1, 2006, just prior to the beginning of the 2006 NFL season.[3] As Commissioner, he is also President of NFL Charities.[4] Many commentators have described him as "the most powerful man in sports".[
