Pros Breaston, Mundy put on clinic for youth
In a poem posted on YouTube entitled "A League Deferred," Steve Breaston wondered aloud whether the NFL lockout would change the way young kids looked at pro football players.
In "A League Deferred," the Arizona Cardinals wide receiver considered the irony of telling a kid "to play 60 but we might not play a minute; speaking to them with my jersey on and wondering if they still wish to be in it."
So he did something about it.
Breaston and Steelers safety Ryan Mundy, a former teammate at Woodland Hills and Michigan, cosponsored a free youth football clinic Saturday at the Wolvarena in Turtle Creek. The response answered Breaston's question, as 123 boys and girls ages 8-13 braved the heat for the four-hour session.
"Football has opened up a lot of doors for us," Breaston said. "It's a passion that me and Ryan have, and we're trying to share our experiences with the younger generation. We want them to see guys successful not only as football players but who went to a good college and graduated with an education and are doing something successful with their lives."..........
