    NFL standings since AFL-NFL merger: Steelers #1

    We're # 1 .... really.... I'm not just sayin that, it's true.

    The following are the National Football League standings since the 1970 AFL-NFL Merger.
    Super Bowls I - IV (I - Green Bay, II - Green Bay, III - New York Jets, IV - Kansas City) occurred PRIOR to the merger and are NOT reflected in the chart below.

    Anyone notice, we also have the most SB's, second in most SB bids, and are number 1 in every stat except that one.

    You know what really stands out to me, besides of course total wins, pct., and S/B wins. But the winning seasons (30) with only 2 coaching changes, that speaks very well for the ownership.

    The other show of consistent excellence is the ratio of seasons with 5 or fewer losses vs. 5 or fewer wins.

    Nope, you're right, both teams have 8. The only category that the Steelers aren't best in is overall playoff berths where they trail the cowboys 30-29.
