Re: ULTIMATE PACKERS BREAKDOWN!!! PACKERS WEEK! SUPER BOWL EDITION!!!!!

I find the lack of many comebacks pretty interesting.

In 16 games, the Packers lead at halftime in 11 games.
They went 8-3 in games they lead at halftime.
They trailed at halftime in 3 games, they went 1-2 in games they trailed at halftime.
They had 2 games tied at the half. They Lost both those games.

Re: ULTIMATE PACKERS BREAKDOWN!!! PACKERS WEEK! SUPER BOWL EDITION!!!!!

I find it interesting that the team with the best defense they played against, the Jets, they could only muster 9 points. Luckily the Jets' O decided to take that week off. They did torch some decent D's though (Minnesota twice, Giants). They may be a great passing team, but the Steelers can and should exploit their rushing game (on both sides) and their offensive line (allowed 36 sacks). Usually LeBeau loves making teams one-dimensional on offense, but he cannot sit back and allow Rodgers to pick them apart. He has to pressure them all day and the D has to tackle well if and when their receivers catch the ball. On offense, a heavy dose of Mendenhall should be the game plan, but success depends on how effective the OL is without Pouncey. B.J. Raji is no Haloti Ngata, but he's going to be a handful for Legursky. And of course, they have to keep Clay Matthews out of Ben's face all night.

Re: ULTIMATE PACKERS BREAKDOWN!!! PACKERS WEEK! SUPER BOWL EDITION!!!!!

What I find interesting is that Rodgers was 3-2 in 5 games against the 3-4 defensive scheme. In those 5 games, he was sacked 16 times. In the other 13 games they played this season, Rodgers was sacked 22 times. If Rodgers goes with a zero personnel and 5 blockers, he could have success against the Steelers D. I think there's a good chance he could throw for 300...

The Steelers should be able to give the Packers fits with their bunch formation both in the passing and the running game. If Legursky and the team can handle Raji, they could be fine. It worries me. Mentally, Legursky will be fine. He's studying all week with Pouncey and will be making the calls like Pouncey does. It's the physical part of the game that worries me about Legursky. He could have a tendancy to get pushed around...

The Steelers HAVE to be patient and get the run game going. It plays well against the Packers D and if they can do that early on, it's going to negate some of the blitzing coming from the Packers. If Rodgers is throwing for 300, I think there's a good chance that Ben could do so as well. Mendenhall could keep both those totals down with a good day. Heath could actually wind up being the key to winning this game both in the pass and the run game. If he can seal his blocks, continue to get out in front and make a few key receptions, he could be HUGE.

Still wishy-washy on the outcome for Sunday...

The Packers D has been pretty respectable in the playoffs. I wonder what their adjustments were.

They didn't play a 3-4 in the playoffs and they do better against the 4-3. Hopefully, the Steelers scheme will confuse them a little bit...even though they practice against similiar defenses every week...

actually heard that the Packers use a Nickle 75% of the time. That's how they get Charles Woodsen on the field as the 3rd DB (+2 safeties). Charles actually leads the Packers in tackles, so he's going to be the guy Mendy has to beat to get big yardage gains.
