Emmanuel Sanders has been yapping about the Super Bowl since training camp last August to fellow wide receivers Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown.
Such talk would be out of character for most rookies — but not Sanders. To play in the 2011 Super Bowl would mean a personal homecoming game for him. Sanders spent the previous five years in Dallas playing football at SMU before moving to Pittsburgh last April as a third-round draft pick of the Steelers.
“I told Mike and Antonio — ‘It’s in Dallas — let’s try to get there,’” Sanders said. “That’d be a dream come true. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to return to my college town and play in a Super Bowl.”
For the longest time, it appeared that if the Steelers did find their way to Cowboys Stadium on Feb. 6 as AFC champions, it would be with Sanders and Brown serving as rookie cheerleaders on the sideline.....................
