Clark is Digest Player of Week

Ryan Clark will tell you himself, that he’s there primarily to be Troy Polamalu’s side-kick, in a football sense. His role is to be the guy who makes a lot of calls, who gets everyone in the right spots, who is there to cover for Polamalu when he goes off on one of his instinctive fishing expeditions.

But in the Steelers’ biggest game of the season, Ryan Clark was a whole lot more. He was the team’s big-play safety when it needed him the most.

Clark finished with five tackles, with two of those coming in the backfield for losses, along with an interception, two passes defensed and a forced fumble. Clark’s forced fumble and interception set up the Steelers first two touchdowns in the second half when they came back from a 21-7 deficit to forge a 21-21 tie on the way to a thrilling 31-24 win over the Ravens to advance to the AFC Championship Game for the fifth time in the past 10 seasons.
