Steelers' Spaeth ready to sub for Miller

Steelers tight end Matt Spaeth has five catches for 49 yards this season.

One tight end returned to practice this week after recovering from a concussion, just in time to replace another concussed tight end.

Starter Heath Miller got a concussion in the Steelers' 13-10 win Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens on a hit from linebacker Jameel McClain. Matt Spaeth, who got a concussion in the Nov. 21 game against the Oakland Raiders and missed the past two games, returned to practice this week and will most likely play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

"Everything's gone real well this week," Spaeth said. "I was a little nervous coming into the week, but everything's gone real well and I've responded well so I think that's what I needed to get a little confidence back.".....................

He sounds a little tentative to me for a guy thats been a starter in the league for 4 years. I'd rather hear him say "I'm looking forward to getting back in the game and doing whatever I can to help this team beat Cincy.

I'm not as worried about his recieving skills....... as I am about his blocking

I think his blocking has really picked up the last year-and-a-half.

I have the utmost confidence in Spaeth. No - he isn't Heath but I believe he will do an adequate job until our #83 can get back in the starting role after his head has healed from being cheap-shotted last week. I also believe Spaeth will bring his A game as he will temporarily be in the driver's seat at TE and I'm sure wants to leave a positive impression upon the coaches.

P.S. Just make sure Spaeth takes a wizz before he comes onto the field for the game.

Don't want to hear "Holding, #89 on the offense" this week, especially after a nice long run from Mendy or Red Zone. Spaeth should know his roll well enough by now, and he should know the Bengals.

This is his opportunity to show everybody why he is still on the team.

Heath Miller is out according to NFL.com

I can't believe Flozell is probable for this Sunday, coming off of a high ankle sprain? What a tough son of a bitch.

I have to say that Flozell was a great pickup. He's signed for a 2 year deal so he'll be a valuable O Lineman next year. The way injuries have gone, I hope he will stay another year.

Have to admit the former Cowboy is giving it everything he has in order to win. I don't see him coming back as a 37 year old starting OL next year, but may fit in as a backup.

The way things have been going for us the past few seasons, that almost certainly means he'll be thrust into the starting lineup by about a third of the way through the season, tops.

If I remember correctly he has a concussion a couple weeks ago, he could be referring to that.

Man's looking for a ring. Doubt he comes back next year if he gets it at his age

But yeah, he'd be so valuable to have. As backup or starter (hoping backup with a new tackle drafted in the 1st/2nd)

I hope he has a good day he has improved on blocking this year over the past, so lets hope he can get those blocks and be able to slide off a few and get open

For those i love i will sacrifice.
