To say how dead this thread is... one page contains the summer of punk, wm 28, and wm 29. Christ.
Heading out with some friends tonight to watch Wrestlemania. Going to be interesting.

What a shit PPV. I'm glad I didn't pay for that crap.
Actually I thought WM29, overall, was a pretty good show. Not sure why Fandango and Jericho was in the middle of the title matches, and felt it should have been the first match of the night since there wasn't a title on the line. The earlier matches were a little boring, but definitely not as bad as they could have been. The 6-man tag team match was the worst one of the night.
Other than that I felt the 3 main event matches, Undertaker vs. Punk - HHH vs. Lesnar - The Rock vs. Cena were good matches. And they all pretty much ended the way I picked them. I wouldn't be surprised if Undertaker does this 4 more years, goes to 25-0 and retires. There was no way HHH was going to lose that match, he brings the crowd to their feet every time. And Cena beating The Rock, was just the passing of the torch and WWE didn't have anyone else on the roster to do it. I would be surprised if The Rock stays in the WWE for any length of time other than to make cameo appearances.

If this was a "passing of the torch," does it really make sense to pass it to Cena? He's already one of their biggest stars. He's got the torch whether Rock works with him or not. And half the fans can't stand him even though he's a face. If they were going to use The Rock to pass the torch, I think it should have been passed to someone like Ziggler. Someone who could actually benefit from being put over by The Rock.
It is similar to when Hogan passed it off to The Rock. They didn't need it, but I think it was a matter of eventually having Cena pass it off to someone younger like Ziggler. Think about it, does the WWE really want Ziggler beating Rock? Doubtful, that just doesn't register. But beating Cena is more widely acceptable.
I thought last year's show was terrible and this one was better.

I think that was the most bizarre Raw I've ever seen. In a good way. The show itself was better than it's been in a while, but the crowd was absolutely amazing. I've never seen a crowd that actually BECAME the show. Listening to their chants was more entertaining than what was happening in the ring. During the Orton-Sheamus match, the fans stopped paying attention and started entertaining themselves. It was classic.
Highlight of the night ... Ziggler cashing in to become world champ. It's about time.

There's no chance that it would ever happen, but can you imagine if Ziggler had cashed in on Cena instead of Del Rio? That crowd would have blown the roof off the building.
The only time I was disappointed in the crowd is during the "feed me more" chants. I'm already sick of Ryback, and his run hasn't even started yet. They should have lit the place up with "Goldberg" chants.
I think they're trying to turn Cena heel, and I get the feeling it's coming soon. I actually thought it would happen at WM29. I think you're going to see a bigger push for Ryback in the coming months. I thought they were going to start it last year, but they stuff with CM Punk and The Shield mirked up the waters.

I am grateful for youtube and the wealth of old school matches, shoot interviews and documentaries.

Havent really been watching wrestling recently but I am stoked for the debut of Bray Wyatt. I liked him when he was Husky Harris and think this gimmick is great for him and reminds me of the family from Rob Zombies House of 1000 corpses.

YES! YES! YES!![]()

Well we have our first gay pro wrestler Darren Young.

Chris Kanyon ... yet another tragic end for a talented wrestler. I liked him a lot in WCW, first as Mortis and then as Kanyon, and felt he was underappreciated.
He wasn't an openly gay wrestler (at least not in WCW or WWE). After he was released from WWE, he claimed that he was released because he was gay. He later said that it wasn't true ... it was just a work and he really wasn't gay. But then he later admitted that he really was gay.
At the time of his death, I'm not sure whether he was gay or straight that week. But to the best of my knowledge, he was never openly gay while wrestling in either WCW or WWE.
"Who's better than Kanyon?"
EDIT:
According to Wiki:
In 2006, after Kanyon's release from WWE, he began a gimmick in which he was an openly homosexual professional wrestler. This included a publicity stunt wherein he stated that WWE released him from his contract because of his sexuality. Kanyon later told reporters and radio personalities that this was just a publicity stunt and that he was heterosexual.[6] However, he later retracted these statements and acknowledged that he was in fact homosexual.[7]
Before his death Kanyon was working on a book, Wrestling Reality, with Ryan Clark. The book was released November 1, 2011, and it features Kanyon's struggles as a closeted gay man as a prominent theme (ISBN-1770410287).[8][9]

I forgot all about the Triad. ... I remember Kanyon's feud with DDP, where Kanyon ran around giving everyone the "Kanyon Cutter" while wearing a blond wig to look like DDP.I think Kanyon could have been a star. He was getting a good push in WCW around the time Vince bought it. And then he got cast aside like most of the other young WCW talent.

I was more responding to the earlier post. I'm not 100% sure that was his name. I heard him in the radio talking about it and I thought that was his name. I haven't watched wrestling since the 80s...I loved it back then and then briefly in the 90s during the Stone Cold, Road Dogg, Rock era.

Kanyon was a true master of innovation. He and Perry Saturn were two of the best in the good days of WCW
ON a side note:
Ever wondered what The Iron Sheik and Honky Tonk Man thought of Ric Flair???
Priceless
