Fred Phelps and what they are doing is shear idiocy... but sadly at this point, so is the counter-protest. Why? Because the counter-protest is giving credence to the actions of Westboro church. Had the counter-protest not happened, nobody would have known that they were even there. Thus, a denial of publicity. Enter Counter-protest... and regional publicity. These kind of things never work. When "The Last Temptation of Christ" came out, Christians protested the movie. It only served to push thousands who could have cared less about it into the theaters to watch it.

If you really want to end Westboro church... give them no Media whatsoever. And personally, I want this "church" ended.

As to the family of the lost soldier-- My prayers and thoughts go out to you. You have entered a privileged but very painful class of the American Citizenry, those who have had their own families' blood shed for our freedom.

What they need to start doing is announcing a fake time and location in public, and only the family knows the real schedule. Then the Westboro scumbags can show up and protest air.
