I can't always log into the site so thought I would go ahead and start the preseason game thread now since I was able today.
The preseason week one depth chart is up on Steelers.com for those that want to take a peek.
I don't put a lot of focus into the preseason games. I don't even know who we play yet. BUT, what do you guys want to see out of this scrimmage? OL play well and no injuries?
Obviously O line play and if the new additions on D line look to improve what was a mediocre group from last year.
DK, Rodgers, Wilson, Johnson, etc. I really think that not a lot of starters will get much work other than a series or 2 maybe.

If they get an extended series I'm ok with getting only 1. I would keep playing the starters until they at least get a 1st down/score, accomplish something positive.Originally Posted by El-Gonzo Jackson

I want to see Kaleb Johnson, Roc Taylor, Roman Wilson and Derrick Harmon in this game.

Nice pass and catch.
That 70 yard FG still had more leg behind it and would have been good from 70+ yards. That's crazy what kickers can do now.
I have only watched the first half so far and we werent seeing a lot of starters offensively, so tough for me to get too excited about the 2nd, 3rd string.
The O line generally looked good, but the Jags D line wasnt posing a big challenge if you look at their performance. Jones still is a concern, as he still gets high out of his stance and lunges off balance with his punch. There was a rep that the QB checked down to the RB, where the rusher just swatted Jones hands away and left him reaching at air and some of his 2nd level blocking is a shoulder check, not any technique at all. I feel better that Peat was signed as some veteran presence.
Defensively up front, Harmon and Benton are an active young couple of linemen. Ekuale has some quickness and snap to his game, while Black seems to be a big space eating defender that will occupy his O lineman and maybe command some double teams in the run game. Harmon looked more finesse than physical of a player IMO. I think the DB depth looks excellent with Bishop, Echols play.
The O line needs to get used to playing with each other, but I honestly hope that Jones becomes the starting LT, but I still see some of the same deficiencies in his game that he has had in the past.

We rotated so many OL it was hard to get much of a gauge. I thought Fautanu played well on the right, and Cook was the better guy on the left. Still time to figure it out.
I thought the offense looked good on passing downs and looked a mess trying to run the ball.
I think this defense will be scary good this season. Historically good.

How can the Steelers keep 4 QBs?

Why would they want to?
Rodgers is QB1, Rudolph the backup, Howard the draft pick with promise. They might put Howard on IR and keep Thompson as #3 but bring Howard back later, but I cant see them cutting Howard. If Thompson was worthwhile having around, the Dolphins would not have let him go.
