With all the Jalen Ramsey talk ... what about Mike Hilton?

With all the Jalen Ramsey talk, Mike Hilton is a UFA. They both are the same age (31) but Hilton would be much cheaper and a perfect fit to play nickel/slot CB. Yes he's probably lost half a step but I'm Ramsey has as well plus Ramsey's cap hit (unless he renegotiates) would be $16 million this season.

Hilton knows our system, and played well here. I would try to sign him to league minimum and let him play special teams. That way he's there for depth should we lose a CB and we could always bring him on for one of his famous QB blitz sacks. He did have a knack of getting to the QB on blitzes.

I seem to remember Hilton was good on a blitz out in run support but was a liability in coverage. If he's lost a step he may be done other than ST.

I would love to see Hilton back with the steelers. I hated seeing leave he was a good player for us.

This stat shows 4 years with the Steelers and 4 years with the Bengals. Pretty good apples to apples comps.

Just another article that seems to be discussing the same thing. Hot conversation topic.

Yeah that's why I'm saying league minimum with ST being his thing and he just being available for injury and certain blitz packages.

I'm not against that. I like the idea of Ramsey playing outside and moving Slay inside. Bishop, Kent, Echols, and Hilton ready to backup. Not to mention Thornhill who can backup the slot as well.

We already have an HC clinging to past glory and signed several older washed up players who were good years ago, why not add another? Bring Hilton in and see what he has left.

I'd take Hilton over signing Ramsey. We need a slot corner more than an over the hill CB ready to transition to safety. Plus like others have said, cheaper.

except Hilton is looking old and slow too last I seen him ....

Ramsey still looked good last I seen him play , that said getting long in the tooth and that lost step at his age can come at any time (he is 30) ... he would be incredible in this def with JP jr on the other side and Slay is slot capable but his contract is crazy expensive moving forward and he is under contract for big money for to long ....
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar

And here we are. Although none of us ever mentioned trading away Minkah. JPjr, Ramsey, and Slay is a pretty strong set of starting CBs. Wonder what Thornhill and Elliott will look like playing together.

    Damn! But this is fun.

I'm reading now that Ramsey will play from the slot. JPjr and Slay outside.

I know Slay and Ramsey are old but this still looks better than Brice McCain, Antwon Blake, Coty Sensaubaugh, Artie Burns, (insert trash DB name here) days of yesteryear.

It's not saying much but better than the bottom of the garbage dump that Colbert would bring in.

J Ram may be living a little on Rep but if that makes a QB second guess even a little they are gonna be late and being late with a throw is most times missed opportunity in the NFL

I normally like your posts ……but to bring a trash on Colbert in to this thread……Why? Burns was a (fail). Fitzpatrick was a win. Are we talking trade or draft. Just want to understand your reasoning. Khan hasn’t had enough time to make bad moves. Give him time. Just saying, that Colbert made some great picks and great trades, and also some horrible ones. Show me one GM in the NFL that hasn’t.

Just was looking at Colbert's last few years and it is not inspiring.

It may be a new direction that Art II has taken but, in the past, the Steelers have never been annual traders or aggressive for bigger "names".
Especially with DBs. That started to change with Joe Haden and then Minkah. I am just happy the Steelers are living in the new era where free agents and trades are the norm now.

quite frankly I would like it if they do not ....

all of them have been here long enough for the proverbial cream to rise to the top if there was any cream to be found ...

let the bottom dwellers go and get a new batch of them to see if you can find a hidden gem

Colbert's last few drafts look bad in hindsight because they didn't draft best available overall butbest available they thought would help the old QB win games.

The DL; I'll excuse. The team has highly specific body measurements they look for slong the DL. There's usually only like 4 guys in each draft class that fit.
