Good extension. Deserved.
I was reading about this on different sources. Everything points to a really good deal on his extension plus Minkah should benefit on the field having Elliott beside him for now.

Also read the TJ deal should get done. Both sides want it so everything should get ironed out. Butt-heads on the radio this morning saying TJ's team and Parsons' team trying to wait each other out. Once one signs the other will sign for a dollar more. Whatever.
Good signing. If we go all in for a QB next year in the draft, we won't be getting very many mid to high draft picks at other positions so good to take care of one safety position. With a little luck maybe one of the young cornerbacks will develop to lock down the other corner position opposite Peezy jr. That would leave us to find for the secondary Minkah's eventual replacement and maybe a slot corner.
I like the signing. I think it is well deserved.
This is a guy that has played well everywhere he has been but never got a good contract. He came here and he played well. He was rewarded with a contract where he makes real money for a couple years. Getting 3 or 4 times what he was making before is a life-changer for him if he handles his money well.
I look forward to seeing how DeShon and Minkah play this season as a tandem. If they can solve the slot corner/Nickel, the secondary has a chance to be very good.
Bishop has not been bad in the slot, and Slay can play there as well if needed. Echols is in the mix there as well, I just don't know anything about him at all. Same with Donte Kent.
Minkah and Elliott are a pretty good and steady tandem for us at Safety. Bringing in Thornhill gives us options in the secondary with personnel groups.
Yah for tur Elliott signing.
Highly suspect on the Bishop at nickel plan. He's not a superior athlete and offenses broke that dudes brain last year. Pretty sure I saw him run in acirvle last year.
Bishop has to.find acway to get his brain dialed in.
With Jalen Ramsey being traded from Miami, there is speculation of him coming to the Steelers. Also speculation of him going to the Chargers or Rams as well. BUT... he started following several Steelers on IG, per reports. Could be that's where he wants to go?

The Steelers brought in 34yr old Slay. Jalen Ramsey is 30. Age would not be a factor I wouldn't think. Porter and Ramsey moves Slay to the Slot. With Minkah and Elliott on the field as well, that's a solid looking Nickel package.
He's not the cause/fault of everything. But he was undrafted and a rookie playing high leverage sbsos in the NFL. And he got schooled. He really struggled with more than one guy coming into his area and totally failed at passing folks off.
No one else on the roster really did well in the role either.
I just don't see much to like about Bishop. I guess he can catch.
Apparently, the main issue in the secondary last year was Donte Jackson.
Bishop performed a little better as the year went on. Does that mean he is free from competition? Nope. I want to see the other candidates in serious competition for it. Also, I hope Omar is looking to sign someone for additional competition at slot.

Beanie has to stop being a liability in coverage, but I do think he still and interesting option. He has a nose for the ball which is something you can't teach. Some guys are just playmakers and Beanie showed last year he might be one. Naturally, iif you are getting smoked multiple times a game your playmaking tendency doesn't balance that out. Interesting to see what happens
