A waste of money. It won't change anything.

$20M for Aaron Rodgers. Same as we offered Justin Fields.
ARod is a better QB than anyone else in the QB room. It's called an upgrade at an affordable price.
I'm in. I might even buy that jersey.
The initial reactions to this are too funny.
Lots of articles about the "aging" defense. My guys and gals in the NFL media, there are 3 out of 11 starters on the Steelers defense that are 30 or older (Heyward, Slay, and Watt). That's it. Everyone else is 28 or younger - except Thornhill who is 29.
Now, I get that Heyward and Watt are BY FAR the two most important parts of the entire defense...but still this is getting a bit ridiculous.
The other great chestnut is the "expensive defense". So? What offensive players has the team not paid or missed out on due to penny pinching? I guess Justin Fields? When you don't pay a QB....you don't spend money on offense for the most part. No one does. Especially in the midst of rebuilding your o line on rookie contracts.
I suspect that the defense cash did cost them James Daniels. And Ogunjobi...but his performance against the run might have had more to do with that.
These "analyses" are just so kinda wrong. And then these same talking heads freak out about "a plan" or a "blueprint" and we have to see it replicated here.
Take a moment and think through all the things you hear and you will realize most of them are kinda nonsense.
Also, Rodgers sucks, is a terrible person, and this is not going to go all that well.
I for one am thrilled about this. Not because I have any clue how it's gonna turn out, but neither does anyone else. The only think I know for sure is that it won't be boring.
We just went from a blah season to a must watch season. I wonder what kind of deal I can get on popcorn if I can buy in bulk.
Can't say I'm excited I actually was hoping they wouldnt sign him. I think he sets back the team because of his age. how much longer will he play injury taken into consideration, 1 maybe 2 seasons?
Maybe the old fart will throw down the middle.
Get another WR. Smith will want another TE
Not a fan. This is like Namath signing with the Rams. Damaged goods and older than dirt

Not that thrilled about this. Would have rather had Fields but I understand they didn't want to commit beyond one year. Alternatively, I was ok with just going with what we have. All this said, nothing the Steelers did affects the long-term future of their QB position, unless one believes that the rookie was going to play. The Steelers ability to throw everything at moving up to get a QB or not next year is unaffected by whether we sign A Rod or not. So, like always, I will root for the Steelers to win every game.
The other point I wanted to make is that, while I think the outcome of the season will not likely change much with A Rod at QB, I think the offense should be more watchable than the last few years. With the exception of the first few games that Wilson started the Steelers offense has been painful to watch since Ben's final two years. I do expect it to look better with Arod. No where near prolific, or even good necessarily, but less painful and ugly than it has been.
Well, he did say he wasn’t opposed to showing a rookie the ropes, maybe he helps the rookie find his A game for next season and it all works out. Now, do I believe that will happen? Nope. Once again Tomlin has made poor decisions in the offseason, once again we are poised to have a mediocre season. The only things I really hate is we are wasting Watts prime and Cam won’t get a ring.
As much as I tire of Mike Tomlin, but T.J Watt and Cam Heyward wasted their prime/opportunities by being useless in the postseason. Will Aaron Rodgers stop them from giving up 300 yards on the ground again?
If the Steelers faceplant again in 2025, is Rodgers the problem and we'll sign the next retread off the waiver wire and MAYBE it will work this time?
I'm afraid Rodgers is fragile. Every time he takes a hit or is about to take a hit, I will be cringing.
Performance-wise, if he can stay healthy, I think he'll be decent and better than anything we had at QB last year.
The article said this deal has been done for months. All the waiting and speculating was pointless. This was apparently set up even before the draft.

Weren't there comp picks at stake for 2026 if he officially signed before the Draft?
BLAH!!!Forever loving and missing you Gal.
At this point, I'm just going to root for the best. Maybe we actually win a playoff round and now draft in the upper 20's instead! Who knows, but if this doesn't work out and we end up where we started then I think it is high time to blow the whole thing up and start over. That means moving on from TJ/Cam/Fitzpatrick ... so be it.
For me, on the field doesn't matter as much. Either Rodgers buys in and tries to play within whatever structure Smith has cooked up or he doesn't. If he doesn't it is gonna be a crapshow. If he does and the o-line doesn't protect him, it is gonna be a crapshow. Rodgers was like the worst starter against the blitz last year or some such awful stat. He basically ran a quick passing game behind a bad o line to far better skill position players than the Steelers field. So...a push? FWIW, Rodgers was horrible throwing deep last season.
Off the field is the issue. Is Rodgers still enamored with himself enough that after the first big loss, he goes on McAffee and throws a teammate under the bus? How long until he makes it Brod Jones or Metcalf's fault? Say the team is out of playoff contention later in the season....how long until Rodgers puts the whole thing on blast as he tries to make it anyone's fault but his?
Rodgers is a barely average NFL starter at this point. With the ego and self identification of a top tier MVP caliber QB. When the results do not align with that, He will kick his PR machine into high gear making sure Tomlin, Smith, Rooney, and teammates take the blame. How will the organization respond? No idea. There is a version of this that Rodgers is cut during the season.
At least Broderick Jones is on his "natural side" at LT and will protect his blind side in the passing game.Should be fun to see how it turns out
How many think the Steelers are a better team on the field without Aaron Rodgers than with him? Just curious. Show of hands.
I think the Steelers will be noticeably better on the field with Aaron Rodgers at QB. I guess we will find out soon. But for now that is my opinion.
