Second Day of the Draft - what are you expecting?

First, I do not anticipate we trade Pickens so no pick in the 2nd round (I’m quite happy with Metcalf thank you)

And I don’t see any team except maybe the Bears (just kidding my fellow Chicagoans) to be giving us a 2nd round pick for him - especially when he’s in a contract year. He’d probably do a Hassan Reddick and holdout with the team he was traded to. So even if we trade Pickens, we aren’t getting a 2nd.

For round 3 - it’s pure BPA with limits (ie don’t draft a center even if he’s the BPA). My hope is for a good RB. Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt and James Conner were all 3rd round picks so good value could be had there. If it’s not RB, the best corner, OL or DT again would be my wish. I dont want to use the 3rd for QB.

My prediction: D Martinez RB Miami -3rd and JCaldwell NT Oregon in 4th

Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar

What concerns me about Tuten is he fumbled 5 times in 2023 and 4 times last season.

    Dylan Sampson.

I think there is a chance they try to land another pick tonight.

I get it , and it is a concern but you can teach ball security , you cant teach that speed and elusiveness

I agree I don't think there is a huge market for Pickens. Maybe if the Steelers are well below .500 at the trade deadline (which won't happen) some playoff bound team might pony up a good draft pick, but for now just keep him.

If Sanders keeps falling, at what point do you trade up to get him?

Shough is a quarterback I liked a lot. If he stays healthy, I think he's going to be a good player.

    Shough to the Saints.

I'm thinking of we do take a QB at 83, and we should, I want Howard.

Jets and Colts seem like the only teams to me that would likely take a QB before 83.

never thought there was a chance that Johnson would be there at 83 ... he was IMO a top 50 player

same. I preferred Johnson over Martinez. I just didn’t think he would be available in the third. At least the Steelers did what I predicted in RB and did not do QB. I still think with Howard, Ewers, McCord and Sanders still available that the 4th is too early for QB

Agreed. Running backs did not go off the board as I expected. It seemed like it was going to be when Judkins and Henderson went early. So happy he didn't. I had him penciled in as the round 2 pick until the Metcalf trade went down

I saw that. Does everyone have some connection to him? Is he the Kevin Bacon of the NFL?

I don't disagree. What is the next logical step in this draft?

Next step - I would strengthen our lines - either OL or DL with 4th round pick and I would draft QB in round 5. Again, I firmly believe that the long term franchise QB will be drafted in round 1 next year so the QB we draft today will a future backup most likely.

First, let me just say what everybody already knows. I don't know! BUT.... my thinking is we must have something already if we don't draft a QB. You cannot go into the season with MR and ST as your QB room. Future backup or not is still better than that.

Or maybe there is a deal already in place. Just waiting to announce it.
