    Lol Browns drafted two QBs.

Although I was hoping Sanders was drafted by an NFC team.

    Watch him be another Lamar.

We are at bpa all the way by the 7th but I can't see us going through an entire draft without taking at least one o'lineman.

We hadn't picked a cb yet either and they are usually special teamers so that makes sense, I guess.

    Re: Draft 2025

Steelers listed Bruener as a linebacker. Is he a linebacker or a projected safety? Listed at 227. A little big for a safety. A little small for a linebacker. I was looking and Queen is only listed at 232 so maybe I am overthinking the weight thing.

Also, when did espn and all these other sites start using "SAF" as the abbreviation for safety? It was always "S" or "SS/ FS." It is not like it was hard to figure out. I just thought I should have been consulted.

Interesting to note that five of the seven drafted came from the Big 10.

LOL, Pickett, Flacco, Sanders and Gabriel. The fact they traded up to get their 4th QB is just classic Browns.

    When will this crap end?
It will end when this board shuts down, which won't be long, It's draft time, this board should be on fire, instead it's like a morgue. There is only 4-5 posters here anymore.

It won't take much to build this thing back up. It's a lot like what some have been calling for with the team. A total tear down of the current and total rebuild. Gotta go through lean times to do that.

Why is everybody so worried about numbers? Are we in competition with other people? Sure, it was nice in the old day when there were multiple good conversations going on at once, but nothing is like it used to be as we all know. I thought we had some really good discussions about the draft the last few days. Don't care about the numbers. As far as I am concerned, I'll enjoy the discussions that are here for the time that it lasts, or Gary decides he has had enough.

    Re: Draft 2025

This was a successful draft for us.

    1. we got a stud DL. I was almost worried that all the top 3 would be gone but thank god for the minor injury to Harmon that kept him available at 21

    2. We got a stud RB. Kaleb Johnson was not supposed to available that late in round 3. He is a perfect fit for us and if Rodgers joins - I guess they already know each other.

    3. We got depth at edge. I didn’t think at first we needed this with 3 already but now looking back - we were hurting at edge when injuries piled up.

    4. We got a developmental QB and depth at DL and CB.

This draft is also a success for what we didn’t do. We didn’t draft a QB early or mid as that would have been a waste of a pick. Our future franchise QB will be drafted in round 1 next year.

we didn’t draft RB with round 1. We learned our lesson with Najee. The last time we had success with a round 1 RB was 53 years ago with Franco. Since then we bombed with Greg Hawthorne, Walter Abercrombie, Tim Worley, Rashard Mendenhall and Najee.

All in all - this was a smart draft

I think we lost some peeps from all the negativity after last season. Some folks are just so negative and are so ready to snap back when you try to counter them. I feel they want to provoke arguments and fights rather than discuss. I avoid this and just chug along …drinking my kool-aid that makes me dream of a Super Bowl win every year

I can go with that. Also, if the Steelers would make a playoff run they would come out of the woodwork.

And for all those who question what stability gets you; this. It gets you this.

Contrast with the Giants. Drafted a gamble in the first round and signed two vet FA QBs because everyone is worried about getting fired.

There are other examples of CYA drafting.

    Nice to avoid that.

Picture of the draft. Browns drafting Sanders. Maybe the kid will make it, but this is classic. I'm thinking Jimmy Haslam made that call.

Well, when someone posts something and doesn't get a reply until the next day or not a single post much of the day this place is dead. I, like most people enjoy message boards with good conversation and debates. This place is dead. And yeah, i can't wait for the "go to another message board" garbage if you don't like it here. That's not the point, just trying to figure out what happened here?

I'm not going to tell you to go someone to go somewhere else. I'm just saying from my perspective I know the responses will be long in coming if at all and I am ok with that. I am long over keeping track of how many responses I get to any of my posts. Sure, it would be better if the forum was busier. However, I still enjoy the place mostly - except maybe the gameday thread when things are going bad.

Agree. There used to be a lot more knowledgeable, level headed posters here that engaged in good discussion of Steelers topics. I think a few of them stopped posting because knee jerk overreaction, berating of other posters and general negativity just arent as interesting.

I still enjoy this board, but I have work which takes priority and frankly is more enjoyable than some verbal spats and irrelevant topics like a QB that hasnt been on the roster for 2 years.

    Re: Draft 2025

I keep coming here for whatever reason. Periodically I check around other Steelers related sites, and, honestly, they are all versions of this. Very few have any actual discussions about football related facts and information. It is all a bunch of grown folks fighting about how being a Steelers fan makes them feel. It is tiresome and not worth the effort.

Turning back to the Steelers 2025 draft...

...there was/is a lot to like:

    1. Instead of signing a bunch of veterans on the downslope of their careers for depth, they drafted guys like Black, Sawyer, and Bruener. FINALLY! I can see why they went with vets when they felt they were a deep playoff run capable team...but they have been holding on to that pattern for a bit too long. This is one of the shifts from Colbert to Khan that I really like.
    2. The Steelers are determined to not get run on like they did in the final stanza of the 2024 season again. They drafted and signed some big fellas this off-season. Even if it doesn't work out, nice to see them trying to address the issue.
    3. Arthur Smith got his guy. I do not think there was a better back in the entire draft for Smith's system than Johnson. This is perhaps FAR too optimistic....but Derrick Henry was not Derrick Henry right out of the gate. Smith and company worked with him during his early seasons with the Titans. So....what if Kaleb Johnson gets better?
    4. Too much is being made of the "QB drama". Clearly, the organization does not view it as "drama". They are gonna be patient and risk losing in order to get the QB they want. In a vacuum, this is exactly what you would want your organization to do. The same folks who are angry about the team not getting a QB...would be the first to be angry about over-paying, or using too many resources on a guy who isn't the guy...etc. It is hilarious to watch the so called "experts" have a team do precisely what they say they think teams should do....and then be angry that it is happening.
