McFadden said they should go out now and draft RB Aston Jeanty at #21 if he's there to replace Najee. Now that DK is here that might not be a bad idea. Imagine having two explosive WR's and a RB that can do more then just put his head down and run into the line like Najee did.

Problem is I don't think Jeanty will last past the top 15. In that case a few mock drafts I've seen (after the DK trade) have us instead picking RB Omarion Hampton instead at #21.

Yup, I am good with Hampton or Jeanty at RB in the draft. Even Henderson from Ohio St, who has big play ability.

But I still think the Steelers need to improve that D line, as I think when we see Loudermilk needing to be on the field too much, we know the Steelers D line depth is terrible. Steelers lost the Line of Scrimmage battle way to often against good teams. When opposing offenses just need to hand the ball off 10 times in a row to score vs the Steelers, then its time to get better on the D line.

I wanted Fields but I wouldn't have given him 30 million guaranteed. I'm not exactly passing the offering plate for the Rooney's, but they are going to have to give TJ some serious guaranteed money. The 20 million a year I would been fine with but not 30 million guaranteed.

That said the Jets offer him more money but LESS in terms of talent around him than they had last year (Adams is gone) and they were 5-12 last year ....
on the other hand while the Steelers offered him 10 million less that team was 10-7 and has added talent at the skill pos.

so one could be of the belief that while he got 10 million extra NOW , in the long run he could have cost himself a significant amount moving forward ...

lets say the Jets hold course and he has a bears like season and snags the same 5 wins next 2 seasons .... but if he had stayed at Steelers and held course and got 10ish wins over 2 seasons..

both versions of Fields hits FA at 28 years old which one garners more money the QB who won 10 games over 2 seasons or the one who won 20 or more games over same said time frame ??

I made that same point in an earlier post. I think he has a better chance of success with the Steelers. QB success equals more money usually. He chose to take the money now and try to find success with the worst franchise in the NFL, arguably. (Jets or Browns?) I don't know if he will have success in NY, but he's chosen his own path so good luck to him.

The real question is would that result in next contract worth $10M more. I get it though, from his perspective, he may not be able to play in 2 years, take the money now.

He's an absolute freak athlete. Guys that size aren't supposed to be able to run that fast.

Not only does he have great speed in the 40. He has elite top end speed as you saw in that play where he ran down a star NFL secondary player that had about a 20 yard head start. Crazy!
