Speaking of QB's ... how did a college QB for the Miami Hurricanes, Carson Beck, afford a Lamborghini and Mercedes? I mean I know they get NIL money now but damn that's a lot of cheese for a college QB.
Satire and sarcasm not obsession
Every thread has turned into arguments about Pickett or Tomlin.
You post what you want and so will I and everyone else.

Just to keep things in a straight line with our QB situation, I honestly hope we re-sign Fields and plan for him to be the starter for the 2025 season, until that is proven fruitless. I would also not mind drafting one of these 'day2/mid round QBs' as backup along with bringing Kyle Allen back. I know it's a glamor-free QB room but I think we will know exactly what we need to find at the QB position if we keep that room fairly vanilla.
I think with the proper scheme and coaching Fields can be a good Qb for this team, i'm excited to see what he can do.
Ok -apparently Stafford has been given permission to talk to other teams. So he’s back on the market
I would credit the Steelers for trying if they went after Stafford. I do think he has a little left in the tank. However, I doubt he would be as effective with our receiving corp, o'line and conservative mandates on offense. If we don't have confidence in Fields to be the guy, then we might as well just run it back with Russ. He would not cost us a draft pick and, while I think Stafford is better at this point in their respective careers, I don't think, for the reason I mentioned previously, it would be worth giving up the draft picks. Our ceiling for Russ, Stafford, or for that matter Aaron, is still a playoff win or two if everything goes our way.
I think that the offense would look different u see Stafford. The Steelers simply had little confidence in their recent QBs.
I suspect theyd have far more on even an old Stafford.
asking price is just to much IMO Rams seeking a 1st ... now if we was a qb away maybe ... but we are much further away IMO ....
namely
QB
D-Line x2
WR x2
CB and competition at the very least for slot CB
another capable RB
we have cap space and could between the draft and FA manage most or perhaps all those pieces but until they play some games together you do not know if the fit works for FA and the draft is an educated gamble at best ... so for me shipping a high level draft pick for a late 30s QB isnt the most prudent thing to do
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
There are several directions they can go at QB. We do not have a franchise guy or a for sure shot at a franchise guy. Therefore, I would bring in a veteran backup, draft a rookie, AND take a shot at an aging former franchise QB. We don't currently have a shot at winning a playoff game from the offensive side of things. Put experience in the QB room. At least give the young guys on offense the advantage of having a leader or 2.
Rams allowing teams to talk to Stafford's team about contract. So if the Steelers can work something out he is the only guy I want to see here next year if they do not resign Fields.
No to Rodgers, no to Russell Wilson and the rest of the trash out there.
No quick fixes by signing another past his prime Qb. This is the perfect opportunity to fix the D line and WR room. Give Fields a shot and back him up with Allen or a journeyman Qb. Look to a better qb draft class like 26.
I personally don't think it will matter who plays QB with Tomlin as the HC. I can't see Tomlin developing any QB.
As for Fields, I can't see him moving the offense down the field with his arm. He will make some highlights now and then, but most of his time it will be failure or mediocrity. I agree he could become better, but I just can't envision it, especially with Tomlin still here.
Hater = Realist
This is where I am with all of this as well. I wouldn't go anywhere near Rogers, and the asking price for Stafford would be too steep (I don't think I would even give up a 2nd rounder for him).
Use the draft and free agency to fill in the gaps elsewhere on the team and grab a QB only if one they do happen to like falls into their lap.
Give a legit opportunity to Fields to win the starting job, and try to build the offense around the things he is good at if he does.
And then, and this will be the hardest thing for them to do, stop being so basic and predictable on offense.

Which team has $50 mil cap room even?
The only way I am signing Fields, is if it for 1 year and get out of it contract with the intention of tanking for a high pick next offseason. He has shown ZERO ability to be a good starter.
I agree, specially with the last part. Let him audible, give him the reigns and build his confidence, work with smith, study tape. Hes got alot of upside. Do a better job stretching defenses. This is the year to rebuild and plan for the future. If Fields develops great, if not we look to the 26 draft. This team has been sort of lost in the wilderness, making mistakes with our Qb situation since Ben retired in 21. I see this a chance to get things right for the future.
I was celebrating last year with Wilson and Fields because I drink Steelers kool-aid and have perpetual hope. But in reality we just had a taller midget. I think Stafford out of all the QBs is no midget. He’s got a legit QB arm.
several teams including us ... we have 60 million without cutting Larry O or Holcomb ( between those two thats 13 million more) ...the question that needs to be asked is with that kind of $$ how many roster spots can you improve ... like D-Line , WR, CB and Fields .... or just Stafford and also have to give away your 1st round pick because that is what the rams are seeking as compensation as he is still under contract ....
no way I pay 50 million for a 37 year old QB and Give up a 1st round pick ... not even close to happening
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
considering we are several pieces away from truly contending is it worth it ??
I mean a 2nd round pick even is a really nice player in the draft and 50 million cap space is likely 2-3 more nice players at that point you are maybe a QB away and next years draft potentially has a half dozen 1st round QBs .... that IMO is when you go get one ...
for me I buy a lottery ticket on Fields and see if he can be the guy he was drafted to be , in other words give him the keys to the offense and let him drive if he fails we are in line for a better draft pick to get that QB of the future ..... if he succeeds we wont need to go get one we will have found him already in Fields ...for me its a win win as long as all the guaranteed money is dealt with in year 1 of the contract ... 3 years 80 million with 20 million guaranteed
