Detroit should be doing everything they can to get him. He gets out of Cleveland and he goes to a winner in a different conference. It's a win/win.

Trade for Garrett. Get Hutchinson and Alim McNeil back healthy, plus a basketful of injured defenders. They would have a ferocious front 4 and have the tools to make another run with a real defense this time if they don't lose 30 players to IR like they did this year.

It's Cleveland. Maybe they could not find a good trading partner? I would have taken high future draft picks and cleaned up the roster. It's not like they are going to win a Super Bowl or anything. It's Cleveland.

Here is an enlightening quote from an article in the Athletic:

"It’s well known within the Browns that Garrett is frequently late to the facility. He has skipped mandatory team activities on multiple occasions. Veterans typically police the locker room on those types of things and create the culture of accountability, but here, it’s the best player breaking the rules. That has to change now."

I do not post this to take away from Garrett. I believe he is one of the best defensive players in the league. Easily in the conversation of players I would most like to see switch teams to the Steelers.

I do post it to underscore that all the nonsense soap opera stuff the "Fire Tomlin" and "The Owner is a putz" crowd keep lamenting about....it happens all across the league each and every day. It is just SOP. Elite talents get different rules.
