I'm sure the not blitzing as much does come from Tomlin and I can't say I disagree with that. Most of the best passing QB's in the league are mobile these days (see Mahomes ect). Blitzing them does not work. They take advantage you when you do that. What the Eagles did in the Super Bowl is what I think the Steelers are trying to go to on defense. Right now, they are lacking the players on the d'line to get that done (and to some extent in the secondary). In addition, before worrying about how much pressure you get on a QB you have to be able to stop the run, which we have not been able to do consistently for a few years now. I was in favor of replacing Austin to get some new life into our defensive scheme but ultimately we are lacking the talent to do what we want to do anyways.
