The only guy I would take if Tomlin is gone would be Mike Vrabel. At least he would make sure our defense is bad ass again.

That was kind of my point. You are doing more than enough to have a useful conversation.

Most folks, including paid former players and analysts, are not.

    Thanks for the kind words.

There is so much depth to football, that it always helps to have a baseline of knowledge on how things work. I try to help people understand how things work when I can, and I think a more knowledgeable fanbase is a better fanbase because it is a little easier to make rational decisions on things and evaluate when you have a better understanding of what is happening on the field and why.

Even those of us that know maybe a little more never know everything that is happening. There are discussions with coaches and privileged information that you can't know unless you are in the room or a player or coach reveals something. Other things are more transparent with what you see happening on the field.

Most internet people are more interested in making a splash headline to get clicks than a true breakdown. Even when they do, they sometimes leave out the "why" and "how" things work. They don't want to spend that much time explaining even when they do know what they're talking about. I guess they fear most will get bored and tune out. Many of these people have no clue what they are talking about and are just fan opinions with no real in-depth knowledge of football. You could easily write a column or create a video with as much or more insight as many of these people do.

I'm glad it helped you understand it a little better.

The crazy season of 1977? The boards would have gone wild.
And if the Good Ol' Boys would have been around back then, they would have been the ones writing those threads (and calling for any threads that disagreed with them to be removed by the mods).

In all seriousness, this just gets overlooked far too much.

Tuitt would be one of the best down linemen in the league.

Shazier likely would've been one of the best defensive players in the league.

But I'm.sure losing the best player on your defense didn't impact the 2017 team.at all.
That team was already wobbly even before Shazier went down. The Steelers lost to the Mike Glennon Bears, struggled against the 4-12 Colts, got in a shootout with Brett Hundley, and also got waxed by the Jaguars in Pittsburgh.

Now were trying to justify the jaguars loss on Shaziers injury? I’ve just about heard enough. As pointed out, we were having trouble against the run before he went down. The oddsmakers certainly didnt think his loss would have that much of an impact on that game as we were still heavy favorites. That’s got to be one of the most disappointing postseason losses in Steelers history. The Tebow and Browns loss are pretty bad too.
