Game goats and ball vs Bungals

My game ball goes to Mike Tomlin for giving us this gem Tomlinism™ of the year: "We have to be able to make routine plays... Routinely."

There can be plenty of goats, but my #1 goat is Mike Tomlin, who has failed to improve this team at all in the last 1/2 of the season, while simultaneously allowing the team to regress to a point below looking playoff-worthy, or being able to even win 1 out of their last 4 games. This team better win a playoff game, or I'm going to roast Tomlin's butt over a verbal spit.

I’d counter that the team hasn’t regressed. But found their level. A 10-7 fiesty wildcard team.

The schedule just backloaded the losses rather than sprinkling them throughout the year.

Goats: Russ, Pickens, O'line - basically the offense. Special teams coverage as well. I could put Trice on there, but he was put in a terrible situation by his coaches.

Heroes. _ Cam was a beast, TJ, most of the defense who held down the most dangerous offense in football after the first drive.

I’m rarely a coaches goat kinda guy.

But leaving Moore on an island against the Bengals only pass rusher.
    Warren in short yardage.
Trice on Chase with no help.
    Van Jefferson over Mike Williams.

These all are difficult to make sense out of.

You're being very kind to them and I respect that, and I think that's what we SHOULD be at this point with the talent we have, but I'm not seeing it.

Well, they should actually be 12-5, they should have gone 2-1 between Dallas, Browns and Colts knowing the back half of the schedule was what it was.

It's like that every year. Tomlin games.

PF dropped a big one right in his hands late in the game, 4th and 12 with 15 seconds left.

Game Ball: PF, Najee Harris, Cam Heyward. Only three that showed up to play.
Goat: Corey Trice and rest of Defense, Arthur Smith Personnel Decisions, most of all, Russell Wilson gets 4 Goats. Lost the opportunity to give an opportunity to win the game three times in three plays coming down the stretch. Really lost the game with a wild throw to a wide open Pickens that probably wouldve been a TD.

Pickens needs to donate his game check or should be arrested for theft. The other WR need to come back to the ball when it's thrown instead of waiting on it.

Muth and Boswell showed up to play, but the O looked like it was waiting for another offense to take the field. They did not want to be there.

I'm thinking Pickens will be gone pretty soon

What if he catches that in the middle of the field, with no timeouts left and gets tackled in bounds? Do you think they can get to the LOS and clock it before the time is 0:00 ??

I doubt that him catching that ball makes any difference at all as time runs out.

Ok, so I guess I'm wrong on this one, in that it's the first time he's said it, or that anyone's picked up on it, when in fact he'd said this exact (dumb) thing a few times before, and people have picked up on it:

The quote is at 1:23, from a few years ago https://www.steelers.com/video/tomli...lays-routinely

    This one's from 2020 at 0:06 https://www.nfl.com/news/mike-tomlin...lays-routinely

And you can even buy it as canvas wall art https://yinzershop.com/products/we-have-to-make-routine-plays-routinely-coach-tomlin-quote-canvas-gallery-wrap-wall-art?srsltid=AfmBOoo_oJxqewC1K-MOkMnDi4YGZbpgDQr2KoEmzNcZZLeB1pdsNbCP

Well so much for my game ball, I guess I'm not giving one, and I shouldn't be surprised anymore by these dumb quotes year after year, because we've been getting the same dumb crap for a while now.

Thanks for breaking it down for me. I didn’t realize they were out of timeouts at that moment. I’ll sleep better tonight.
