    Eagles Heroes and Goats

Cant be too upset, we needed our A-game and didn’t get it. We had too many ppl out in our secondary to stop their passing game. Missing out top WR.

We held Barkley and the running game in check. Healthy secondary and GP and we could have been competitive.

Good news? We are officially in the playoffs.
Bad news? Watt was injured on a short week for a game we need to win to win the division.

Goats - Najee for back breaking fumble when we had life.
Tomlin for living in his fears and not going for it on 4th and 2 when we still had a chance.
Team for not putting out an A effort.

Heroes - None, too many stupid penalties and they didn’t put their best effort.

    I think it was 4th and 7.

I don't think they would've picked it up. But strongly agree that it was the wrong decision to kick.

The only important question from this game is how is Watt? I wasn’t listening at that point of the game. Did they give any updates from the sideline?

Biggest goat was Najee and his fumble. I realize he’s good at ball security. Usually. But he made absolutely no contribution to the offense. He’s so freaking slow until he gets past the LOS. More one yard gains.

If Watt is out I believe we drop to a wildcard, don't know the severity yet. Tomlin will know more Tuesday

They still had a halfway decent chance of pulling it out until Harris' fumble. It was all downhill from there.

    Re: Eagles Heroes and Goats

There's too much to go over, so I'm just going to do Pros and Cons...

Pros: Russell Wilson played great. He protected the ball, his passes were all accurate, and looked like a great offensive leader overall. TJ Watt proves himself as dangerous as ever, being the undisputed linchpin (sic) for this defense. The offense proved it can move the ball effectively against good defenses, and the defense proved it can effectively stop good offenses. Special teams proved to be one of the best in the league, if not THE best.

Cons: First, I'm not blaming Najee for losing the game, regardless for how bad of a play he made that just happened to kill any offense we had in the second half. What transpired after his fumble wasn't his fault at all, and he can't be blamed for almost the entire team collapsing.

The team's performance was good enough to beat a lot of teams, but not any of the really good ones.

The offensive play calling was absolute dogshit, and I feel the ultra-stupidly conservative piss-ass short gain attempts totally hamstrung Wilson from making big plays, and limited the offense excessively, especially in situations where we needed to overcome a 14 point deficit late in the game on 2nd and 25 where we call a play that hasn't netted any more than 2 yards all day, and that's exactly what we get leaving us with a 3rd and 22. We crapped in a box and called it an offense.

On defense, the tackling was mostly garbage, allowing what should've been a loss of yards into positive ones, and what should've been a stop into a first down. The defense had their moments but was completely outplayed in the second half, allowing insanely long scoring drives to occur with little to no resistance. If I'm going to call out any one defensive player it would be Alex Highsmith, who appeared to do basically nothing all day long. The other would be Donte Jackson, who was playing like total crap until he was mercifully injured, possibly sparing himself a long day of getting embarrassingly burned and abused.

The refs were complete assholes, who only called anything in our favor they absolutely had to, of which received the absolute minimum of consideration.

Tom Brady is a shitty announcer, and his partner might be worse. Is there a mute option for the color commentators, but not the game itself? Next time I'm turning the sound off and listening to the radio broadcast even if the timing is off.

Have to try and do a re-watch but I felt Wilson played poorly and Highsmith played well.

The front 7 held the league MVP in check despite being other field for 2/3 of the game.

I agree, I feel Wilson was pretty much unsure with the offensive scheme the whole game. I also thought Highsmith played well for the most part. I believe we were pretty much man handled and the most mismatched I've seen all year against a team.

I much prefer Romo over Brady. I think Romo is the best announcer to come along in a while that was a former player. Seems much more knowledgeable and more comfortable at what he does. imho of course.

    Yeah.

I really think Olsen or howeveryou spell it. The former Panthers TE.

I thibk he might be the best going right now.

But announcing styles are not one size fits all.

But Brady isn't good. He adds nothing.

His biggest insight was that when 5 defenders roll to the same side of the field it majestye QB's ability to identify coverage "muddy".

Plus Brady's voice reminds me too much of Collingsworth, which is by far my least favorite

At this point; I just want a color guy who can help me keep learning about what I'm watching.

The great ones can be entertaining while doing that. But I would settle for boring but informative.

I'll have to wait for Highsmith's stats to become final for me to defend my claim, but there's one thing I can post about the dog crap reffing that happened today:

As the broadcast returned to play, the Eagles had the ball at the three-yard line as Kevin Burkhardt explained that the official declared that the Eagles' defensive lineman head slapped Connor Heyward after the football left the right foot of Corliss Waitman, which enforced the penalty on the Eagles with possession.

However, a replay of the infraction makes it seem as though the ball was indeed kicked after the foul was committed.

It's often the case following a loss that fans target the officials for blown call and poor officiating, but they may have a point in this instance.

    Fair enough on Highsmith.

I watched the game with a toddler today. So highly likely I missed a number of things.

The zebras blew at least two game altering calls today.

    Really poorly called game.

Im going to give Wilson a pass because Pickens was out. our receivers outside of Pickens are mediocre.

goat to Najee. Just cant cough up the ball like that. We were driving and poised to score. Becomes a completely different game with the momentum on the steelers side.

    hero to Boz i guess.

Makes no difference. Say they convert and say they score 8 points. Eagles run the clock out to finish the game. They worked the clock 10+ minutes…there’s zero reason to think they couldn’t work it whatever amount was left. The bottom line is the defense didn’t step up. MORE THAN TEN MINUTES to close out a game…that’s unheard of.

    All too true.

I just still think punting was the wrong call.

I would have gone for it as well but can’t fault Tomlin for punting and playing the field position game. If the defense steps up, it’s a good call…clearly they didn’t.

The O line was JV today. Not enough time in pass protection, not moving enough defenders to establish the run, although the run blocking was better than pass pro.

The other side of the ball wasnt great either. D line didnt pressure Hurts enough to disrupt their passing game and they ran the ball well against the Steelers. Next week is big, but I dont see this Steelers team as getting to the AFCCG, but still better to watch than previous years.

After the game Tomlin said Watt had a "low" ankle sprain, which presumably is better than a high ankle sprain. Also, as Watt was walking to the locker room at the end of the game he did not appear to be limping. So maybe it's not as bad as it first looked.

And then I find out the punk in question during the "head-slapping penalty fiasco" (as I will henceforth refer to it as) is none other than Jalen Carter, a guy who was involved in a street racing incident (i.e. crash) that killed two people, and was later arrested and charged for it, as well as leaving the scene of the crash, which he was later sued for, along with the University of Georgia.

    https://www.si.com/nfl/eagles/news/e...lly-drama-pat3

Yes people can make mistakes and atone for them, but this guy still acts like a jackass after all that, and then somehow gets bailed out by the refs? I don't wanna judge the guy too unfairly, but this penalty really pissed me off during the game.

Yep. Slay should’ve been ejected for throwing a punch, Mitchell threw a headbutt yet the Steelers received two personal foul calls? At absolute worst, it’s off-setting penalties. lol.

What happened to that great Lions’ defense? Right now I’d put the Bills and the Eagles as Super Bowl favorites.
