It's probably going to take far too much money to keep Trubisky and Fields. When you see what starter-level/backups are getting right now, I just don't see how it's possible to keep them both.
My preference would be to let Wilson go, keep Fields, sign an affordable veteran QB to mentor him, and most likely draft a developmental prospect this coming draft. Hope Fields takes a step forward in his understanding, processing, aggressiveness, and execution in the passing game while cleaning up his fumbled snaps under center.
If they don't think Fields is the guy, hope the developmental QB has some ability and go all-in on a 2026 quarterback.
