I'm willing to bet you still don't.

MojoUW has actually been against bringing in Wilson since before Wilson left Seattle. He has maintained that stance through all of last season. I believe he still does.

This does not make KPa better option. Just a different option.

Yeah. Never was a fan of the Wilson move. But it was still the right move given the alternatives.

Just as now the "right" move is Justin Fields.

Honestly, NFL teams make these decisions seem harder than they really are. Best hope for the Steelers is that Carroll really wants Wilson in Vegas.

Was it Carroll that moved on from Wilson in Seattle?

I think so. But I could see him turning to Wilson now to help him build the culture he wants for the Raiders while he gets whatever rookie they draft ready.

Carroll was the one that dumped Russ & I don't see him politicking now, to bring him back. What, 4 years later? Plus they are picking early. They're probably gonna end up drafting the QB we all end up wanting.

Doesn't take away from the main issue though. Sign Fields, draft a "dart throw QB" 1st thru 3rd round. Maybe, possibly, after turning over rock, offer Russ a #3 veteran backup contract. Only if there are no better/cheaper options that fall in our lap.

Damn, I was going to write a post giving you credit for being the ONE Good Ol' Boy who was consistently right about Wilson, but then you go and say something stupid.

There's no other moves to make.

It isn't like they left some wonder kid unsigned or undrafted.

They've taken the biggest swings that were on the table at just about every turn in the road.

Unfortunately, all those dudes were simply not very good at playing QB in the NFL.

what I don't get is how some seem upset that we didn't re sign the guy who lost the last 5 games starting at QB for us ... smh

When all the talk was it will be either Russ or Rodgers, I wanted Russ. I'm definitely not upset about it. I did think, and still do, that Russ is the better option in this offense over Rodgers. Just based on recent versions. But if we move past both, I would like that better.

I'll be more upset if we don't draft a QB in the 1st or 3rd.

This is me except for having to draft a QB this year. I said I'd rather have Russ than AR. However, it is the lesser of two evils to some extent. That said if it is AR I will root for him.

    I don't get it either.

Many seem to post like there was some meaningful solution the team.passed on.
    .
They've literally thrown everything at the wall to see if anything stuck.

Now, Khan SEEMS to be on track to pick up 2-4 extra third round picks in potentially a "good" QB class in the draft his franchise is hosting.

I think the Steelers are going to cobble it together one more time this season and then trade a raft of picks to get a QB in the 2026 first round.

But what if they are drafting from the 32nd spot?

Hey I remember the "bad news bears as a kid." We just need Tomlin to turn into an alcoholic curmudgeon and to put a girl on the team.

I think what makes drafting a quarterback in the first round at #21 so difficult is that they traded away their second round pick for Metcalf. If they take a QB at #21 they will only have 5 draft picks left and won't be able to pick again until the third round.

However, if they find a trade partner and move down slightly and can recover a second round pick.....it just makes it easier to build the roster while still getting a QB. The problem is, the QB they want may not be there later. He may not even be there at #21. They may have to move up to get him.

There is a lot that can happen between now and the end of the draft. It's going to be very interesting.

for me .. now this is me others very well may see it differently but the only QB worth drafting in the 1st round that MIGHT be there at 21 is Dart and IMO he is the only QB that could potentially fall into round 2 worth drafting and other than a potential "Dart throw" pardon the pun there isnt another QB in this draft that is worthy or taking in the first 3 rounds that is worthy of what you are giving up in terms of D-Line or RB ...

A proverbial roll of the dice on a guy who has a 70 to 90% failure rate vs say a starting caliber RB IMO is a gamble never worth taking unless your team is so beyond stacked at every spot but QB and we are not .... so get your pieces while the getting is good and next year if you have to throw the whole draft at your guy to get him so be it you already build his team .... trade down this year to say 28-30 and get that extra top 65-70 pick get a early round D-Lineman and OT because we are thin and inexperienced at OT the more solid young bodies you have the better and if not a OT get that next great Guard to be your future with that pick ....

so my plan would be if Not Dart .....

(set up next years 1st round QB)

    D-Line via trade down ...
0-Line with the selection gained best Tackle or Guard left
    RB in round 3

If you are going to do that....and I like the concept....go all the way with it.

Trade down for 2026 pick(s) instead of 2025 picks. Amass enough assets to bully your way to wherever you want for a 2026 QB.

I'd love to , however with this D-Line class I think you would regret not getting in on it and we gotta get a rb to pair with Warren ... O-line would be nice but we MIGHT be ok .... gamble away that aspect of it and with that first round trade down take the gained assets and apply them to next year and maybe not even in the initial trade , perhaps that is a second trade ....

example lets say you trade 21 for 28 and 59 , when 59 comes around perhaps you can trade that to get back into a 2026 1st from a team that likely is picking late in rd 1 next year like Bills , Chiefs , Eagles , Redskins etc ..... then next year you got a pocket full of comp picks and TWO 1st rounders to mover around with to get your guy ... and If Mason is starting this year we likely end up a 7 or 8 win team at best so starting draft pick would be 14-17 area and doesn't take as much to move up esp if there are a handful of 1st round type guys to pick from as advertised by many of the "experts" .... if you gotta get to top 10 from 14ish its not that costly , perhaps you gotta give up a 3 and 5 to move the 4 spots , and maybe you don't gotta move at all just depends on how it shakes out ...

Thing here is I don't agree with the process. It's not just a QB worthy of pick 21, is worthy of pick 21 all the way to the next pick at 83. You say you don't see any worthy there? I see several worthy in that span. My thoughts on drafting a QB at 21 are much broader in terms of who that makes worth taking. If we still had pick 52 maybe I would see it more your way. And 'just trade back into the 2nd' may not be available either. Takes 2 to make a trade.

who do you feel is worthy in that span , I see a bunch of guys with incomplete games and lots of flaws you are hoping you can fix with a organization who isnt great at fixing said flaws ...

look at all the first round picks or reclamation projects this team has taken on and failed to develop any of them into the next great thing ( jury still out on Fields) but look at how many others that had better traits and were more highly regarded that we didn't manage anything with (not even solid clip board holders) but somehow all the sudden we gotta have faith they can turn lessor thought of talents into a franchise QB

    Kenny Pickett
    Justin Fields
    Dwayne Haskins
    Mitch Trubisky
    Paxton Lynch
    Tommy Maddox

Guys who had success prior to coming here but never was much after getting here
    Leftwich
    Vick

nothing about those guys above gives me confidence in the team developing a 3rd round or later guy from this draft class (by all accounts a weak QB class) into a franchise QB therefor I take D-Lineman or RBs or O-Lineman to strengthen the team instead of a guy who in all likelihood doesn't get a second contract from this team or perhaps any other team in the league ... but maybe thats just me ....

Not really interested in debating name by name or point counterpoint with QBs. There are probably 6-8 QBs I could see on the board for the Steelers somewhere at 21-83.

No worries back. It is a lot of what we do here. But that exercise in this instance is not worth the effort. I would list things I like about a certain QB, while you would pick apart what you don't like about them. Goes nowhere. Just say I do like some of these QBs. You don't like any of them. Done.

I love the idea of trading back. I am always a fan. In fact, I have been screaming for the team to trade a high pick and move back to gain more picks and give the roster much more talent and depth if they hit with those picks.

Dart would also be my primary target if you are going to draft a quarterback in the first. I don't have a first round grade on him, but that is the cost of doing business in the new NFL when you need a quarterback.

If Dart isn't available and they can't find a trade partner to add picks, then I would most likely be looking for a defensive lineman with the first pick unless there was an early run and none of the top defensive line prospects are there. I love some of the DL talent that will surely be around later in the draft as well. This draft is stacked with defensive linemen.

Only the team knows how they rate all of these quarterbacks. If they truly believe in one and his abilities, then they have to draft him when he is available. What we feel is irrelevant. If Dart is available at #21 and they don't draft him, then we know that they don't really believe in him.

Maybe they are looking at Milroe and Shough with a slightly later pick? Who knows?

The team put themselves in this spot by giving up high draft capital for a wide receiver. They need to figure out how to get out of the box they created for themselves.

The one thing we know about this draft is that there will be good defensive linemen and good running backs available throughout most of this draft.

In the end, what we think about these quarterbacks here doesn't really matter. The only thing that matters is what the Steelers organization thinks about these quarterbacks and how they have evaluated them.

It's a lot of fun to talk about the strengths and weaknesses of each quarterback, but we really won't know anything until we get to the draft and see what the team does. Will Rodgers be here? Will they be all-in on a quarterback that they take high, or will they add one in the draft at all? I think they will, but who knows.

If Dart is there I'm drafting him, and starting him this season. We need to know what we have at Qb position if he shits the bed this season I'm drafting a Qb in the first round again the following year.

Mason isn't the answer and neither is a bunch of old has beens.

Here's the thing about NFL scouts - they stink at their job.

Last year, Cam Ward thought about entering the draft. The advisory panel, of NFL scoursmind you, said he'd be LUCKY to go in the tip 100 picks butlikeky long after that.

Now, after one season with a non terrible team, he's the consensus first overall pick.

C'mon. These dudes are just not that good at this.

If Rodgers doesn't make a decision and has the team hanging on draft day, I hope they draft a guy they really like, get him into camp, and see where it goes.

My hope is that Rodgers goes somewhere else, retires, or the team moves on from signing him. I'm ready for the youth movement at QB.

While Russ aint it, I thought keeping Fields and then waiting until 2026 would’ve been the best move. 20 mill is not a lot for a QB. We keep a known quantity on the team who would have another year in this offense and maybe even gain enough trust to throw over the middle or call an audible.

Starting over every year and then changing QB’s mid season hasn’t worked but it seems like something we continue doing.
