This is why they need to go get one more "good" receiver. Someone brought up Slayton in the WR thread and I agree. He would be a perfect fit, has a manageable CAP hit ($7.95 million) and is a UFA after this season so he would basically be a rental which means he could be had for a mid range pick. The Giants are 2-6 so why wouldn't they want something for a guy that could walk away after this season.
Pickens, Slayton, CA3 and Jeffereson. Not a superstar group outside of Pickens but a competent group.

why can’t he be Calvin Austin?

Why do we have to label Roman Wilson as being the same as any other player and a complete bust?
Let's see if he comes back from injury and becomes a big contributor to the team before we write him off.
For crying out loud....

I really liked him at UM. Everything seemed to go down hill for him here. He’s probably looking at 2025.

The problem seems to be that when he was “healthy” he couldn’t get in the game because he didn’t understand what was happening. Whether that’s the truth or not is another story. But the problem arises, that if that is true, how do you explain practice squad and street free agents coming in and getting playing time on game days when Wilson struggles to do so?

when you are injured , then recovered on a WR desperate team and are a healthy scratch 5 weeks in a row and your HC publicly says you are not prepared enough to play and then elevates a guy from the practice squad to play in front of you for you to finally get a game day hat and log just 5 snaps and zero targets before they seen enough to then take your hat away the next week then you get hurt again I would say the arrow is pointed in the opposite direction as one would want but maybe thats just me /shrug

He may come back next pre season healthy and ready to go. The issue this year is he has been dealing with hamstring and ankle issues. Stay off your feet and rest problems. He's likely nowhere near game shape currently. I think that's more what 'not ready' means. He ran routes in college, he can run those same routes in the pros. He did get some snaps against the Raiders. I think it's just a matter of conditioning at this point. I don't know that but it makes more sense to me than he just suddenly forgot how to play the game.

I'd be more concerned if these injuries were joint, or concussion related. (My mistake. I guess he did have the knee injury. Still, doesn't rise to chronic yet for me). I'm not a doctor and never played one on TV. However, having an ankle injury or a hammy doesn't lead me to think chronic. Remember Pouncy started his career with ankle injuries and after the first two years was pretty durable. So, time will tell. Just not overly concerned at the moment.
