    OTAs and TC Thread 2025

Donald Parham out with a torn Achilles. He was only signed for 1 season, so I guess that's the end of his Steelers career.

Roman Wilson and CA3 have both looked great so far per reports.

Broderick Jones and Darnell Washington have both reportedly lost significant weight before showing up for OTAs. Seems the plan for both of them is to replace it with good weight for the season. Less fat more muscle.

Everyone is in the best shape of their life. All the new players and the still young players look exceptional. Some old guys are sitting out, but don't worry they will be awesome as well!

OTA and minicamp reports are always so dang rosy.

I was just reading this morning about how Roman Wilson is now going to be an exceptional second WR. This is after the SAME Steelers beat writers spent how many months dragging the guy? Which one is it?

I am most interested in how they are divvying up the responsibilities between Queen and Wilson. One of the "hidden" issues with the defense last season was that Queen was not that guy. He was back to having the same issues he had in Baltimore before Roquan Smith showed up. Can Wilson help Queen be better? Does another year in the system help Queen play faster? No idea....but that is what I am hoping (but not expecting) some of the summer and early fall reporting can shed some light on.

With Aaron Rodgers signing, these preseason workouts just got very interesting.

I'm thinking a ton of 12 personnel. Extra OL as well as receivers. Rodgers may not be the dynamic QB of years ago, but I would bet he's every bit as good as or better than Flacco.

Holcomb will wear the green dot. If he's really all the way back from injury that is.

However the snap counts divvy up, the WR room is already better than last season.

Still a month out until we have anything real to talk about with TC and this year's squad. But just for something to do now, which position groups, players are you watching closely this TC?

Obviously WR and (Slot) CB are the 2 groups I'll be most focused on.

For me it is still the o'line. Their performance effects the how the 41-year-old QB does, the run game as well as the defense. The collapse of the defense last year can't placed solely on the offense by any means, but early in the year when the offense was moving the ball, even when they didn't score much, the defense was clearly holding up better. Once the offense started to sputter and the defense had to stay on the field more things fell apart. There were many other factors, of course. The age of the d'line and the schedule were certainly also big factors but our defense has been wearing out at the end of the year for years now and it goes directly to all those 3 and outs.

I agree our season will go as the OL goes. But, I think we already know who our starting 5 are on OL. Barring injury or somebody deciding to just retire, I don't see that changing.

DL will be an interesting group to watch. They will not all make this year's 53. Gonna be some cuts from this room.

I agree with you. As much as we can say that guys like Frazier, McCormick, Seumalo, Jones are built to run block, the Steelers often on 3rd or 4th down and short were not able to get off the ball and win the line of scrimmage. Something about the attitude and physicality of that O line group didnt match the skillsets.

I know we all get caught up in who can pass block more than running the ball and pass protection is equally important, but having an O line that is not physicial is what gets you in the bottom half of the NFL. If opposing O lines can bully your D line and you cant reciprocate, then its a recipe for losing.

    TC is fully underway.

Isaac Seumalo has a soft tissue injury already, and Spencer Anderson is taking his snaps so far.

I'm reading that ARod looks very good out there so far.

    Kaleb Johnson looks really fast.

Metcalf, CA3, and Washington have been Rodgers favorite targets.

It's true that reports on TC are like corporate earnings projections sent to shareholders. Any truth contained withing the report is well hidden. However, now that TC is here, I am feeling more excited. While most of the offseason news this year has understandably been about the offense, I am maybe even more interested in seeing how the defense comes together and what changes will be made.

Just a random passing thought on our OL. Seumalo is in the last year of his contract. If BroJo struggles mightily this season at LT, move him to LG, Fautanu to LT, and Cook to RT. Jones might be a great LG.

Cordarrelle Patterson is gone. I think our team speed just got a few clicks faster.

Just some articles on how things are looking in TC so far. Looks like defense is way ahead of offense, which it should be.
