    Taunting penalties can be completely subjective and officials from the same crew may even call them differently. BUT....when you stand up, look down at the defender, and then drop the ball on him, that's pretty much textbook taunting. JuJu got it for a clean hit and then standing over Burfict while staring at him. That's taunting. Gesturing at the opponents sideline is a taunting penalty. While it is a very subjective penalty, there are some things every player should know is most likely going to draw a flag. I don't think mixing it up with the fans should be though, as long as there is no actual profanity use or physical touching.

    Even just looking at the opposing team's bench is taunting. Remember Cassius Clay or whatever his name was. He was on the Bears playing his former team, the Steelers. He got a sack and looked at the Steelers bench and did no gesture and got flagged.

    Big play Willie Gay stood still facing HIS OWN Steeler teammate and crossed his arms and got flagged.

    The comparison of Mahomes doing it and Pickens doing it is totally different. Mahomes didn’t recoil on his. Pickens did. Hence the flag and deserved by rule. Same reason Nico Collins, CeeDee Lamb, Josh Allen, etc did NOT get penalized…no recoil.

    Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar

    Pickens will get smarter and most of his antics that draw flags will stop. I think. He's still very young, plus he's a WR. Guaranteed to be a stupid combination most of the time.

    Can choose to look at these things in a negative or positive light.

    Negative has been covered. Positive is that 46 games into his career and most times have decided that the only way they can slow Pickens down is to try and get into this head enough to prevent him from dominating a game.

    There are several Pickens featured content dumps on Steelers Depot this morning.

    One is about how this or that many NFL teams took Pickens off their draft boards despite viewing him as one of the best (if not the best) WR in the class. And I guess I get it -- but I don't get it also.

    This is like a mechanic (in this case the head coach) saying not buy some rare example of prime era Detroit steel because they are scared of not being able to restore it. Instead buy a lesser ready to go vehicle. Huh? Your job is to fix cars. So fix the car.

    I get it that it is about money and jobs and whatever else...but this is also still the league that if you got the talent on the field you can do (almost) whatever you want. As Tomlin says "...don't run from coaching...".

    This is likely another issue where I just think about it weird. But if I were running a team....I would tell my coaches that it is their job to restore whatever cars I got them to their full glory no matter how hard.

    Brooke Pryor
    @bepryor

    After losing at Cleveland on TNF, George Pickens said the Browns “aren’t a good team at all.”

    Asked if stands by that today, Pickens said, “I just go by the record.”

    @ASaunders_PGH

    George Pickens doesn't know why he keeps getting penalized, doesn't think opponents can get under his skin, doesn't care about giving out bulletin board material and doesn't know who Greg Newsome is.

    It's not about feelings. It's about judgement. If a ref sees a player doing something often, it's for more likely that the next time the player does something similar, it will be called. When you get a reputation for it, the refs look for what you are doing. In other words... don't draw attention to yourself.
