Want to make noise in the playoffs? Play Wilson.
Tomlin need to stick with Fields no matter what.....The steelers need a running back too since Najee is awful
I will be so angry if they make a change at the QB position for no good reason.....Fields was the only positive in this game and we saw what he could do without Najee was less involved.....Running with Harris at this point is a wasted down
Not trying to argue.
But Smith just insists on square peg round hole with Harris.
Stop zone running. That’s not Harris game. We’ve seen 2 seasons in a row where they abandoned that around Week 8 and Harris thrived on straight ahead stuff.
I’m cool with replacing him. But it would be also cool if Smith adjusted to what his team does well rather than insisting on his way.
As much as Fields should be praised for his 2nd half performance (and it was quite good) his 1st half performance was bad. The Steelers know full well that Fields Great qualities are equal to his inadequacies.
It may not matter who plays QB between the o'line injuries, the lack of production by receivers not named Pickens and the mash unit that is our running back position, it puts too much pressure on a defense to play that many minutes. I'm not making excuses for the D, but the other team has playmakers as well. You are not going to fool a guy like Flacco at this point. He is still capable of finding your vulnerabilities and exploiting them. That is particularly true if he has a running game going.
He is a limited player, which is why I am glad they did not pick up his 5th year option. You can't doubt his effort. he runs hard and in the right situation with hole he can still be a weapon. But his speed and particularly his vision is lacking.
Really need warren to get healthy.
they drafted 3 bully ball O-Lineman this year and one last year along with what they claimed was the best blocking TE in the draft last year said to be damned near a additional lineman .... thats not the sort of personnel one would covet to play a zone blocking scheme yet here we are ......

someone wasnt watching the game or the stat line and seen the score at the half and assumed....
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
I think it is because Smith isn't one of those coaches that runs around and shifts his stuff around based on who he has on the roster. He just runs his stuff.
I also don't think that Smith or maybe the coaching staff is all that committed to Harris either. Why else would they do all this "we aren't picking up your option BUT we want to sign you to an extension BUT not until we see how it goes nonsense"?
I am a big fan of Harris and think that he can have an excellent season....the blocking just needs to get together.
If what you are saying about Smith being unwilling to tailor his system to his personnel then there is a major disconnect in the scouting department and the coaching staff because you need ot draft players to fit your system or adjust your system to the players you have rostered .... one of the latter has to happen to have consistent success ....

true ..6 carries 43 yards , that's 7 yards a clip ..I'd take that any day
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
I have been concerned there is a disconnect between Smith and everyone else since the day he was hired.
His unwillingness to get the ball to his playmakers in Atlanta and stick with his system/approach ultimately got him fired.
To me, Smith seems to be a stubborn and somewhat inflexible coach. But he is so much better than Canada and some of the other options out there; I can not complain too much.
But I do not think he has done enough to adapt to what he has right now. However, it is only Week 4 and there is a ton of season left to go. I will try and be patient and let this develop.
Sorry to sound like the 'so-and-so didn't get enough of a chance' posters on here, but we have had a different OL each week. Tough to be more flexible, or to open up the playbook when you're continually teaching and re-teaching the basics of each play concept. Smith likes to run multiple plays from the same personnel group and offensive alignment. He also likes to run plays that set up a future play by that design. When this works it looks like genius. When it does not work it looks like today. Hard to gain consistency either way though when the pieces keep getting shuffled.
That is my opinion/viewpoint on our offensive struggles. IF Smith is a going to run 'his plays' even when they aren't working type OC, then he is no better than Canada. He may have more success short term, but he is just as limited in the long term. I'm willing to ride this season out and watch if and how the offense grows and evolves. Or doesn't.
I was not planning for a parade at the end of this anyway.
Here's an interesting fact: Russell Wilson has never received a single MVP vote in his entire career. Justin Fields finished 9th in MVP voting year before last.
Just think about how McDaniels and the Dolphins are going to struggle. They need Tua specifically to run that offense. It's very much predicated on timing and creating that space for their speed. And they just paid Tua to be the man for a long time. It's amazing how fast a season can detail with just an injury or 2.
