Weegie Thompson
Business Development Manager at Potomac Environmental, Inc.
Richmond, Virginia, United States
Thompson is called Weegie because his Father, Willis Sr., was nicknamed Weegie when his younger brother couldn't pronounce Willis. It came out Weegie. So, Weegie is Weegie Jr. (Willis).
In the 1984 season, Pittsburgh was the only team to beat the 49ers, who would go 15-1 and go to win Super Bowl XIX. While reflecting on that Loss, Hall of Fame safety Ronnie Lott said of the rookie, "He blocked by butt all day, and fair. Every play, he came after me, and I respect the hell out of Weegie Thompson to this day. He’s one of the toughest guys I ever played against."
I need a Weegie jersey

First, can you let me know what you’re doing with yourself since your time in the NFL? Well, nothing now. I’m in Fort Myers, Florida and am retired now. I’ve had health issues – headaches and memory issues from my concussions in football. I was also diagnosed with diabetes. So I’ve had health issues on and off.
Has the NFL helped at all with the health concerns?
The NFL has been doing a great job helping, yes.
How was the post-NFL adjustment for you in general?
I adjusted pretty well I think. I went into the family business after football. We owned a liquor store, but when my mom passed away we sold that. I planned to succeed – not to fail. I learned to manage my time and money, and to stay humble.

I just heard the rats traded for Diontae Johnson
"Zeds dead baby, Zeds dead." - Butch
All the Steelers D needs to do to Dionte is to pop him a good one out there. He'll crumble quickly. I was always annoyed that it seemed he'd always get up slowly after every other hit from a competent defender.

This will be an interesting thread to revisit.
I will predict lower numbers than in his prime Steelers days as the #1 option but a big positive impact tis the Ravens offense.
And he will make several critical plays against the Steelers.
