According to reports (and a CMC interview), Aiyuk has already been traded as he was reportedly at the Niners facility today cleaning out his locker. CMC referred to him as a former teammate in an interview today as well.
Niners supposedly leaked the reports about the Browns and Patriots.

The Brandon Aiyuk situation drags on in San Francisco, though it sounds like the saga involving the 49ers wide receiver is going to come to a close soon with a trade. It sounds as if Aiyuk’s options are to return to San Francisco, although he hasn’t gotten a contract offer he likes, or get traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns or New England Patriots.
According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, Aiyuk’s “preferred destination” is Pittsburgh.
“Some folks said the Steelers were out of it. Steelers were never out of it, and they’re not out of it as we sit here right now. It sounds like, if you piece this all together, that that would be Aiyuk’s preferred destination of all the teams that we’ve talked about. So it’s just gotta get to the point maybe where the Steelers can sweeten the pot when it comes to the trade offer with the 49ers and then we can get to the point where Aiyuk can get a deal done with the Steelers and get over there,” Garafolo said on The Insiders on Tuesday.

I just don't think he would be worth what they might have to give up. At most, I would give up a 3rd round pick.
James Daniels and a second (and 5th) would be a no brainer to me. Some of the speculative trades are outrageous though...
I guess it is really dependent on what the 49'ers would be willing to accept in return. If Aiyuk really does want to come here that could work in our favor.
I would also like to see what his contract demands are/were. I would hate to lose someone like Pickens (who I feel could be a really special player) because we are now paying that money to Aiyuk.
We don't know how many big years Watt has left...Maybe this is the last year for Heyward with us....Do you really want Van Jefferson as second WR or do you want a potential top 5 WR duo?

Without looking, I believe there are several teams that have two high priced WRs. Eagles, Bucs, Bears maybe? Somehow the Eagles have the QB, 2WR and a RB that are well paid…
and the steelers have one of the lowest payroll on offense
I want to see what Roman Wilson can do, but unfortunately he did get hurt and I think there is a little bit of panic here now since the start of the season is approaching. If Aiyuk comes here, then Wilson will get buried on the depth chart.
For me, having a top 5 WR duo would be a little bit meaningless in a run first offense. It certainly wouldn't hurt, but that is where I would be hesitant in what I would have to give up to acquire Aiyuk.
The Steelers have been good at finding gem receivers for decades. Wilson certainly could be one.
If Wilson sucks ass, get a receiver next year.
Not to mention salary cap increases from year to year.
If they can do it, then great. If they can do it without giving up much in order to get him, even greater.
I am just not big on mortgaging the future for a piece that may not even be needed to complete the puzzle.
The eagles were a run first offense in 2022 but Devante Smith and Brown had a lot of value since if you put a lot of energy into stopping the running game, you were going to pay the price with a big play... Just watching the steelers-eagles matchup in 2022, it was a nightmare for the steelers defense... The 49ers were last in pass attempts last year but Samuel and Aiyuk were still very valuable

Those are all very true and this offense would certainly be more dynamic with Aiyuk. I wasn't really looking at it quite in that way, more like they were trying to fill some sort of hole they were seeing and I was not.
I will reevaluate my perspective on this possible trade.
I am for the trade if it isn't a boatload of assets to the Niners.
I agree with what was said above. Wait Lynch out. He has all the pressure to do something. The Steelers have almost none.
Daniels or Moore and a not first round pick....sure. But Pickens or Friermuth? C'mon that is ridiculous.
Yeah I agree...And I would be very stun if Pickens or Pat are in this trade....It would make no sense for that!

I am most likely making an ignorant statement, so I apologize in advance. Even with a possible Friermuth extension among others, don't we still have a crap ton of Cap space next year? If we gave up a 1st for BA, couldn't we conceivably replace a need through FA? Unless BA takes most of that cap space. And a decent QB salary.
Ok never mind. Don't give up the farm for him.
