LOL I scared this dude i(Ben Anderson) into closing comments on Mason McCormick.

I said the Steelers/Omar/Andy/Tomlin were thinking ahead with this pick.

Both James Daniels and Nate Herbig are in the final year of their contracts.

This dude said he didn't "understand" this pick. How can you run a blog that is Steeler focused and be that clueless.

technically Ben doesn't run the blog that distinction goes to Steel dad , Ben and I used to chat it up quite a bit but his Political views and mine didnt line up very well and just prior to the 2020 election he blocked me and then took it upon himself to block me from their blog in which steel dad wasnt very happy about and almost cost Ben his position at the blog ... I remain blocked to this day and am happy for it as I have never met a more stubborn person in my entire life

Unless Spencer is hurt it looks like Tomlin might have shifted his rotation to left guard. Anybody follow Mason enough in the game to get an evaluation of how he did?

There was definitely a difference when McCormick was in the game…a big difference.

I’ve got nothing but good things to say about McCormick.

It he flashed mostly when the Chargers will had already been broken.

Got to see him do it earlier in a game as well.

But nice start to his NFL career.

Spencer Anderson can take his place on the bench as the utility lineman. McCormick should start until Seumalo returns.

Sure. Maybe he would be better. Or maybe when exposed to a higher number of snaps in varied game situations (other than pure run blocking) we would see defenses expose him with stunts, twists, techniques, and power that he likely didn't see at South Dakota State.

Likely that Seumalo plays next week. I think he practiced this week.

McCormick was in as the 6th O linemen often. He was wiping his numbers with his hands while reporting as eligible to the referee as a TE, which you could see before a few plays.

He was then getting matched up on an OLB a lot of times and just mauling them. He is heavy to contact and has a solid base in the run game, but didnt seem to care much about pushing his defender left or right to seal off as much as just getting in their face and keep driving. Great physicality but the next step will be sealing the defender so he cant get off the block to the RB.

IMO, the 6 O line sets are a great way to get a young guy used to NFL action and experience. He should work out long term, so the addition of him and Frazier in the draft really helps the IOL.

Amazing to think that I have more hope in McCormick than I do in Broderick Jones at this time and if the Steelers could only keep one of these two young linemen I would want to keep McCormick.

We get so gaga over Jones being from Georgia and a first rounder and discount a no-name guy from South Dakota that lasted until the 4th round but wow - the way this kid plays and how nasty he is make me want to keep on looking at small schools and draft a lineman from there every year in the 4th round.

which probably does mean that we'll move him to the right.

I focused on the right side in the first half. Simply because that side popped off the screen. I’ll watch the second half tonight and focus on the left side.

Another thing that stood out is what a crappy blocker Muth is. Washington’s chips are better than Muth’s blocks.
