Baldinger Breakdown.
It's hard not to get excited by the thought of Wilson and Queen flying around making life difficult for offenses.
If Benton can help keep guard of these two...they're gonna be difficult to run on.
Wilson looks like you could even put him out they're on a TE or RB as some sort of jumbo nickel.
AND even though he's not a true edge, he can pass rush?
Cmon. Unless this dude's joints just disappear, he's gonna thrive in this defense.

Just a little too late.

I guess he has small hands. Just saying.![]()
Bright young man. Football IQ. Great attitude and skillset. Seems like a Family, Faith, Football kind of guy.
I cant find the video online where he was interviewed Senior Bowl week. There he talked about his wrestling background and it helping him with leverage, torque and toughness. He said " I feel like there isnt anybody that I cant get on the ground once I get my hands on them" and "Wrestling is the toughest sport of all, because its just you 1 v 1 against somebody else and there is nowhere to hide."
Didn't realize his brother is Bryse Wilson whom played with the Pirates

Wilson called the defenses on the first day of rookie minicamp, already acting like a veteran.
I realize this is a big IF, but if he does stay healthy the Steelers may have gotten the steal of the draft.
dude has some skinny legs (like Lambert) if he ends up being half the player we got a good one ...
seems Bill Cowher took an interest in the kid and it has to make me wonder if that had anything to do with him ending up in Pittsburgh
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
in a recent interview Bill Cowher stated that Payton Wilson's ILB athletic skills are "off the chart".
hopefully P. Wilson stays healthy and plays well at the other ILB position next to Patrick Queen.
According to the off-season of ALL the reports are correct, this defense will be ridiculously good, offense should be good and Justin Fields will suck…but who cares? He’s not going to play because of how good DangeRuss looks!
So this pick is working out, don’t you think?
Rewatched parts of the game, and the individual effort he puts forth just screams classic Steelers LB. Obviously that takeaway was tremendous, but his penetration against multiple blockers absolutely destroyed that 2 point conversion attempt, allowing Porter a free path to the QB and secure victory. I love players who make the big plays when it really matters. It’s very TJ of him.
For several years we were kind of iffy at ILB. Now with the addition of Wilson and Queen to Roberts, who’s been very solid, we probably have the best all around 3-4 line backing unit in the NFL. Even with Highsmith out we haven’t fallen off. With young guys like Wilson and Herbig in the mix we should have a solid unit for a long time.
When the Steelers have great linebackers the world makes more sense to me.
This was the one pick I thought the Steelers should make in the second round and when they didn't I think I said somewhere that they missed out and when he was available in Round 3 I was ecstatic and then they selected him. He had a good college career, great combine and really impressive interviews. For some reason, I heard a few of his interviews and thought he'd be a great Steeler.
