What will the Steelers do at Wide Receiver?

I can't take much more quarterback talk. What will the Steelers do at WR? They need a WR2 and WR3. Boyd is still out there, but not much else unless they go the trade route (which I wouldn't prefer). Will they try to fill them both via the draft? That's kind of risky counting on two rookies. I'd prefer Boyd and a Day 1/2 pick in the draft that can stretch the field.

IF...We do sign Boyd, he plays the slot. Move Pickens to the X, and let CA3 play the Mike Wallace role at the Z. Drafting a rookie to primarily backup but to also get legit snaps should be the goal.

Building the OL and DL should be the main focus, IMO. We have Pickens, CA3, Mims, Van Jefferson, Calloway, Freiermuth, Wash, Little Ironhead, Najee, and Warren. If we add Boyd, I could call it a day.

I think they go WR at latest round 3. Pretty good track record of picking receivers in round 2 tho. At least in short term. Pretty much the late rounds they always take under sized LB or DT which rarely pan out. I’d like to see 2 WRs drafted. BPA in first and Center in second followed by a couple of receivers.

I like the idea of signing one and drafting one. Boyd or go younger and get Renfrow for the slot. Draft a guy for outside.

Lots of trade rumors out there for the guys on the Niners and for Justin Jefferson…probably not going to happen but wouldn’t be opposed to it.

In the first two picks, it’s so wide open what combination they could go for…WR, C, OT, CB. As long as a Center were included (at this stage), I’d be fine with whatever the other was.

I forgot about Renfroe. Not a bad option.

I do too and he’s not that old. I think he’s two years younger than Boyd and just got dealt a bad deal with the Raiders.

Smith likes giant WRs . That's not Renfro

    But it is Mike Williams.

Juju would be perfect in this offense if he could still run.

Juju could never run. He had the one 90+ TD run and that’s it. The guy chasing him must have got a cramp.

I am not confident in anyone besides Pickens. We need two more solid players. I would love Ladd McConkey and Tyler Boyd. I do not want to trade draft capital for Justin Jefferson - he would cost cap space and 1st round draft picks.

DJ Chark could fit the bill. Pickens, CA3, Jefferson and Chark would give us one stud, one burner, and two solid receivers. Still have to draft one though.

Re: What will the Steelers do at Wide Receiver?

Apparently Smith likes to use RB’s and TE’s in the passing game, so a lot of Connor and PF. What is Jesse James up to? As far as receivers maybe Boyd and we are set (like mentioned before). Can CA III play regularly? Is he too small to sustain hits like Dri Archer? Seems like it.

Oh yeah, Harris and Warner too.

Re: What will the Steelers do at Wide Receiver?

Theo Johnson could be a guy in the draft for Smith’s offensive scheme. Looking at some draft boards have him as a 6th round prospect. It’s mind boggling to me as I see him as a solid second round pick but if he’s around on day 3 I would be happy to grab him.

pretty much and it predates his time in the NFL ..that said he is a very good wr when he is available , I think we need someone more durable and consequently more reliable / available

in 7 NFL seasons he has missed 26 Games for anything from sprained ankles (several) strained back , strained shoulder , and ACL
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar

Chark has been awful…he has a name from his one good season and that is it.

    Actually he had 2 97 yard TD's.

Yet the dumbass previous OC made him a slot receiver which means 2 yard routes. Ruined Juju's career. Only Andy Reid could use him properly in the slot.

I don't know what he has left, though. I know the Cheats** are trying to trade him and I know the contract is too much.

I’d trade for him in a second on the basis that he restructures and extends contract for a couple seasons. I think Pickens and JuJu could work very well together and add a rookie in there as well. I don’t think Boyd would be an option at that point…

Will Russell Wilson even be able to see CA3 running routes since they are both so short?

Maybe the defense won’t be able to bend down to block the pass and catch??

Lots of rumors that the Steelers are going after someone bigger than Mike Williams…Aiyuk, Deebo, Jefferson, Diggs, Metcalf all names being tossed around…lol.

I could say something snarky about lighting the draft capital and cap $$$ saved at QB on a WR they won't fully utilize.

But what do I really know?

Diggs might be on the market.
