So, Wilson has the ringing endorsement of a veteran DL and a HC who has been roundly vilified on this board for screwing up the team's QB situation to begin with. That makes me feel better.
On a side note, I can't help but feel that Tomlin is gone after 2024 and that this is a last gasp attempt to win another SB.
As far as I can tell, Russell was/is no bigger prick than Ben was for the first 10 years of his career. So we should be used to it. It was only after Ben turned into a nice guy that they started losing in the playoffs. Just sayin.

I want to win NOW too.
some of these folks would still be holding out hope for Ryan Leaf had the steelers drafted him in the 1st round ... cant make this shit up ... KP has done NOTHING to give anyone hope that he is worthy , it took him 5 years to put up draftable numbers in college a 23 year old playing against 18-19-20 year olds yeah my 17 year old grandson looks amazing vs his 13 year old cousins too...
Im shocked some of you are not bitching that we are not giving Mark Malone another shot or do you not know who he is ?
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
Like I said in post 30 in this thread, this is better to admit the errors that to wait too long for that...Pickett had 24 starts...Lance had only 4 starts with the 49ers and it was enough for the 49ers

Same for me....Sick to be stuck in the middle!
Meh. I don't give a rip about Wilson's rep, especially when it is mostly based on anecdotal accounts from the douchiest fanbase in the league. My only real concern is that it further delays the team finding a long term solution at QB, that's all. I'm thankful the Steelers only gave him a one-year vet minimum "prove it" deal so if things do go sideways, they're not hamstrung for years capwise.
The seahawks have one more reason to hate us too!
Not to mention that he played 52 games in college over 5 years. His ceiling is pretty low. Moving off Pickett is no worse than moving off Bush, Burns, or any other bust. It happens.

The Steelers have been evaluating Pickett for 7 years. That's long enough!
Yeah KP got screwed. First he was dictated to by Canada and Tomlin to play conservative, go with the first read and avoid extending plays to create something. Then he’s benched cause they want to ride the hot hand. Now this. He had one game without Canada and tore the bengals d up. We could’ve won with KP this year. But now, he may end up somewhere else and we may rue the day the Steelers got Russell. Russell might do well here for a year and we may have our playoff run but KP may end up being a franchise Qb somewhere else, cause we weren’t just a little patient
Well, now that he is a Steeler, I hope he plays well, no point in arguing about it, we will see soon enough if this was a good idea or not.
I'm not the GM or the HC of the Steelers. Point is Wilson has good years (lot of them) and Pickett only has bad years (only 2 but still bad).

If it doesn't go well, bench him or cut him. There's no contractual downside.
Agreed! The steelers didn't have to spend lots of dollars on Fields or draft an early QB that isn't much better than KP. It seems like the steelers sent a pretty clear message of what they think of KP by going with MR and now picking up RW. Maybe they believe RW can help the progression KP, he sure didn't have any QB on the roster last season that could claim that??
