If Love is developmental, then so was Mahomes. And Allen.

I think there are QBs that need to develop....some do as projected (Love, Mahomes, Allen, etc) and some don't and are called busts. But a "developmental QB" (for me) is a guy that gets drafted later in the draft and no one but the team who drafted him really saw something. Takes a few years and irons out the holes in his game...etc...

I think it is hard to get a "starter" out of this route....but you can get a high end back-up/borderline starter kinda guy. That has a ton of value.

I would love to see the Steelers have a QB room of KP, Tannehill, and some young dude with a TON of mouth-watering physical tools. Tools guy may never put it all together....but if he could....

The last good one is maybe Romo....But when the rookie contract is only 4 years after the first round, you can't wait like 3 years for a project or it will be too late!

Right! I was thinking of Romo but forgot to put him on my list. He's a great example. I'm sure there are others we're not thinking of.

Kirk Cousins might be the best example. He was a later round flyer to be a third string QB and work his way to a quality starter role. Romo was a good example as well. Gannon, Cousins and Romo would probably be the Top-Tier/Ceiling for a developmental guy…which wouldn’t be a terrible thing.

If the Steelers draft a quarterback, who and when makes sense?
