This. I never liked the Mason Rudolph pick. Quickly into the first or second game, I really harped on him not being able to throw well and being mediocre at best. I still say MR is not a true starter in this league (that is, he is not a long-term solution for any team). However, he's proved over the last few weeks that he could be an outstanding back up QB, and one I'd really want to keep on my team. His arm strength has dramatically improved, and he is very decisive with the ball.
His problem is that he's a poor man's John Kitna. He's a game manager that cannot put the team on his back and carry them. I really believe we saw his ceiling the first three games he played, and the last two games saw him come back down to his average. Again, as a backup, I'll take it.
I'm also not completely sold on Pickett, and I am not excited about going into next season with him as the number 1. However, I also think it is unfair to judge him by his work under Canada. The one full game he played not under Canada was a much better game.
Still, I have to wonder, if we can get some trade value for either Pickett or Rudolph (or both?), do we take it, bundle it with our number one and two, or one and three, and try to move up to get a QB if we can?
