    Balance Offense ?

Steelers are 2nd in the league in throwing at 63% of the time with 43% success and average of 6.0 ypa. What ever happened to Art Jr wanting to run the ball more ? By the way Tampa is 1st with 66% with 51% with 7.3 ypa. Only a few teams making throwing more work, Dallas, Miami, KC.

You have to throw a ton when you run for no gain on first down every time.

I'd bet the numbers look different past few weeks.

I bet they do look different as well, yea lot of other factors like you mentioned liked running on first down you have to take account for also. Like playing from behind and etc. I think this shows even though it's a pass happy league it's not always leading to success. Another thing it's showing is that Baker Mayfield might not be that bad of a qb.

The two teams that are looking the best this season, San Fran - pass 51% with 48% success and 8.3 ypa. Balt - pass 56% with 47% success and 7.1 ypa. That is some decent balance there.

    Re: Balance Offense ?

As Moj pointed out you have to throw a lot when you run for no yards a lot on first down, have a high school coach running your offense, and are trailing on the scoreboard. Canada's offense was/is HORRIBLE. But based on the last few weeks we have been much better and way more balanced.

This is why I don't want to weigh in on who should be our QB moving forward. Regardless of how we finish the year I think next year the top priority should be to find a top notch offensive coordinator before we even talk about our QB. We do know Trustinky is getting cut, he's not even a legit backup NFL QB at this point, he just flat out stinks. But our big issue is with Mason Rudolph looking so good will another team come along (he's a UFA) and offer him a job as their starter or backup? We do know Pickett is locked into a rookie contract still so at this point we could begin next season without a legit backup unless we draft one.

Balanced offense means nothing when winning a Super Bowl. The new norm is pretty much a 55/45 pass to run ratio.

From 2017-2021 no Super Bowl winning team passed under 54.4%.

The league is still a passing heavy league.

So if the 49ers win it this year they will break the norm ?

Sounds like it. I don’t know what 2022 ratio was but from the sounds of it, anything less than 54% passing has not been the norm.

If Warren follows Heyward on this run, he may still be running…

    Re: Balance Offense ?

The steelers have pass the ball for 52% of the time this year, bottom 5 in the league....And in the last 3 games,it was at 39% but at least the production by the pass(the yards per pass attempts) was much better.....I have no problem to be a running team but you also need some big play with the passing game

For the run pass ratio,it depend in so many factor, like the down and the distance and also the score, the situation, etc

Last 10 games, the steelers have on average 145 rushing yards per game and for the last 3 games(especially in the game against Bengals and Seattle) the passing game have been much better....Will they continue vs Buffalo?

This link below is the run pass ratio for the entire season and in the last 3 games

Art Jr never said, “ run the ball more”, he said, “ run the ball more effectively”. That is why we hired Haley. Ben was getting killed under BA. By the way, we have a 1000 rusher with Harris, and 800 with Warren, and his numbers are higher if you count his receiving yards. Those are the numbers I care about.
