you have a really good shot being right ....
it would be nice to have cams replacement before it HAS to happen , as much as it sucks we know we are on borrowed time with Cam ...
we desperately need another Tackle and a Center sure would be nice ...
you could likely change your post to say ... "I think using our first TWO picks on the lines could very easily be how they go"
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar
Steelers mailbag: Who impressed at the Senior Bowl?
Who impressed at the Senior Bowl, and who could the Steelers target?

Q: At #20, do you take OT Fuaga or Center Jackson Powers-Johnson? How about using your other five picks to move up and choose both? Your first and second to get Fuaga, and your third, two fourths, and sixth (and seventh?) to get JPJ at Center in Round 2!! Sign vet FAs and UDFAs to fill out the rest of the roster. - DCBill
A: JPJ isn’t getting to the second round. I doubt he gets past Miami at 21. I would take him at 20, and take someone like a Patrick Paul out of Houston in the second round to fill the need at tackle.

They might have to. The more I read about what Arthur Smith likes to do....the more I kinda think they don't have the OL for it.
I mean condensed formations that then get wide in the run game. With almost everything under center. More run than pass. Cole and Chuks are not built to play that way. I think, but do not know, if Moore could pull off a switch to RT...he has the mobility to give it a shot. So they need a center for sure. And maybe a tackle? And they need some interior depth or possibly a guy to challenge for playing time if Daniels or Semaulo can't make the switch.
But....how can you draft that many OL high when you do not have a functional spine for your defense? ILB has one player (Roberts) who they can count on for next year. Everyone else is a massive question mark. The secondary is MFF, JPJ, and who knows after that. I like the idea of Rush and Trice, but we just don't know the reality of it. Neal, Kazee, Pierre, and Pat Pete could all go and I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
Daniel Jeremiah has him as the #35 overall prospect. Here is his evaluation:
Powers-Johnson has experience at all three interior offensive line spots and has spent time at defensive tackle, as well. He was outstanding at the center position in 2023, and that’s where I expect him to play at the next level. He has good size, exceptional quickness and steady balance. In pass pro, he sets vertically and is able to catch and absorb versus power rushers. He does an excellent job reworking his hands to maintain position and is a nasty helper when uncovered. In the run game, he uses his upper-body power to torque/turn defenders, generating a lot of movement at the point of attack. He is quick working up to the second level and takes good angles. Overall, there aren’t many holes in his game. I love his bulldog playing style.

Dulac: Steelers Like Mason Cole, ‘Would Like Him More As A Backup’
Steelers Depot | February 15, 2024
The Steelers brought in C Mason Cole as part of their efforts to rebuild the offensive line. Many now believe that he has to be removed as part of that rebuild process. Yet they did not release him, at least yet, when they dumped three other prominent veterans.
The Steelers, however, don’t necessarily have to release Cole. He’s not so horrible as to be unemployable.
