Pretty bad when even Minkah speaks up about the current state of the team. He rarely speaks up and is quiet and reserved.
So who are these under preforming players and who will replace them?

When Cam and Minkah are telling you it's players not putting in the work? Unless you have actually been on the field in some capacity, player or coach, and had to deal with players just going through the motions, I guess it doesn't make sense.
I really don't need to have the players named. I don't care their names. I do know which players are putting out effort and that's the team I'm rooting for. The IR list has been a better team than the one on the field at times.
Tomlin isn't going to bench anyone, no discipline.

Are Cam and Minkah underperforming based on contracts??
I feel like the money spent on Cam, Minkah, TJ and Highsmith.. we should play more like the 85 Bears. I’m sure we can blame the offense and injuries for some of these breakdowns but we often see this D give up points after we finally get a TD or to start the game or 2nd half.
Perhaps if they were allowed to play by the same set of rules as the '85 Bears...
Bottom line is that in deference to the fantasy football nerds and all the "casual" fans who want to watch Arena League-style football with pinball machine scoring, the NFL has slowly but surely legislated defense out of the game a little more with each passing year under the completely phony guise of "player safety" (which the league really couldn't give two shits less about).
How many times have we seen one of our defensive players make a perfectly legitimate play that would have stopped an opponent's offensive drive and forced a punt, only to get tagged with a complete bullshit 15-yard penalty, usually LONG after the play is over? Too many to count, by my reckoning.
That is the short-sighted view, yes. That is not what either Minkah nor Cam said though. They both said specifically players thinking they can just show up and win. At some point the men wearing those jerseys have to step up and play.
"Put somebody else in there". That's been the go to statement that fixes everything. You want more players hurt? Put guys in there that aren't ready. There really is a difference between 1st/2nd year players and veterans. Just like when one of our OL whiffs on a block and puts the QB in harm's way. Same happens elsewhere on the field.
Bottom line is some of these players are doing their best Jamarcus Russell when it comes to preparation. The real players are getting sick of it. Freiermuth has complained about it, Najee has said things, Watt has alluded to the same thing. Now Cam and Minkah in this thread. I think it makes the problem pretty clear. Let's see if it boils over to practice.
The coaches are struggling to find 11 healthy guys to put out there for the snap of the ball this season. I'll march with Cam. If he says guys need to get benched, I'll go with his recommendations.

Listen to Cam in the interview. He talks about execution and making the same mistakes. Same as Muth, Najee, and the rest.
