Re: Mike Norvell For Steelers Next OC

What makes me think/believe Norvell is a good football coach does have a bit to do with win-loss record. That, and that he has taken 2 schools to conference championship level programs. If you don’t think that type of success equals being a good coach, I’m not sure what does.

Let’s also discuss a coach you want as OC.

I think 2024 will be Tomlin’s last season as HC of the Steelers. Thus, my earlier post.

I actually do think Mike Norvell and Jim Harbaugh are probably the 2 best names at this time. Yes, they come from college programs but I don’t really separate football coaching like that.
I think most college coaches will fail in the NFL. But that may be another entirely different discussion.

For the next OC, I would have the following requirements:

    1. A detailed plan for how to develop KP.
    2. Specific strategies for improving both performance and communication along the OL.
    3. How to score points with the existing players. Not a plan for building to it but points. Now. with this group.
    4. Fallback plan for winning if KP craters.

The best answers to those questions would be my guy. I’d prefer demonstrated NFL experience as an assistant or position coach.

I’m not really in any position to have those conversations with Norvell or Harbaugh.

Competent coaches with a solid plan for immediate success with current personnel. Sounds like a plan to me.
